I am currently employed on a full time contract with another employer but on crap wages..
I have passed the interview and am awaiting a start date with manpower jlr... with all that's going on and from what I have read on here now, maybe I should stay where I am ?
OK, as far as I know these issues only involve Castle Bromwich due to all the changes taking place.
In my opinion, (and that is all it is, I make no claims of any specific knowledge or insider info), if they offer a normal, ie not a specific short term contract, you are placed at Solihull and do Pera training I would (probably) go for it.
As far as I know that would put you in roughly the same situation we were all in 3 years ago, apart from having to stay with Manpower for longer.
Is there anyone, recently started at Solihull, who can give an insight into what type of contracts etc you have been given, and what you've been told with regard job security etc?0 -
Cheers for the info... i see what happens then..0

If you're on 15.85 on nights you're the only manpower employee who is
Pretty sure if you get on 4 shift pattern its 15.73 per hour, for nightshift
Also lucky if you get on 4 shift as you get around 17 weeks a year off lol0 -
Anybody got any news on people getting laid off at halewood? All over the liverpool Echo website, jaguar apparently denying the amount being quoted as having been laid off, but from what I have seen on my line about 80% of manpower have gone0

To be honest it's a pretty normal thing Jag hires people in the summer to cover the new model year and launches which tend to happen in October and then tends to lay them off April/May time.
They did the same last year laying people off April May and bringing people back at the end of May and recruiting new starters who started at the start of June.
From what I have heard all the people who have been let go had a late / day off or a disciplinary. The plant is nearing capacity now after years of growth so they can afford to be more picky this year.
Spoke to my Supervisor a few weeks back and the plan is to clear the deadwood and the people with lates / absences and disciplinaries. then recruit people for the 16MY and the Cabrio launch.
There are various rumours flying around but that is the nature of the place.0 -
To be honest mate I've just been let go and wasn't late or off sick once so it makes no difference if you have 100% record like me! Frustrating when I know people have been off and still work there!0

I started in August and lasted 3 months ,to be honest it's a shithole with utter knobheads in charge. Asking permission to go for a pee and being told no aint very nice as an adult!0

They let me go 2 weeks ago mate from the closure cells! Told me it was nothing to do with my record just these efficiency cuts across the whole plant, 2 one week then another 2 the following week.0
