Yes everyone in fa2 have but not everyone in T5 or defender has done pera0 -

Yes I know.
The point I'm trying to get across is that the new temps at CB have only been taken on on limited time contracts so won't do Pera as they are only likely to be there a few months.
Those on the longer term Manpower contracts will probably still do Pera as they are hopefully going to be there for the longer term and eventually after the 5 years with Manpower will (maybe) attain a JLR contract.0 -
I personally may turn down the job. I don't know how comfortable I feel going into work everyday knowing it could be my last shift. Wouldn't be so bad if it was for a year, but 5 years is too much.
So much can change in 5 years, especially in the automotive industry. The order books are full one minute, and empty the next.0 -
Difficult choice.
When I was applying 3 years ago it was a no brainer, 1 year with Manpower and almost a guaranteed JLR contract.
My wife applied and got to the interview stage earlier this year but didn't take it further as she had a permanent contract elsewhere, although for less pay.0 -

I read in the article about the manpower guys losing their jobs that some of them were weeks away from getting their STC, that's why I was saying in the beginning that it's a bit concerning. I was just quoting what I read, you're more in the know than I am where I am about that so I bow to your knowledge0 -

5 years is the maximum time you can be on Manpower before they have to offer you a Jag contract. Your pay still goes up on an annual basis. If you don't have absences or disciplinary problems then it is still first in last out.
Which means that if you keep your nose clean then unless there is a massive slump in sales then after the first year you are highly unlikely to be let go because there will be plenty of people with start dates after you.
Before the last pay deal you did 1 year manpower and two years Jag before you gained full employment rights anyway. Also part of the pay deal is an agreement whereby once the Jag head count falls below 90% of those employed they have to offer manpower staff jag contracts based on your start date.0 -

It was 1 year Manpower, 1 year JLR STC, then Full Time contract.
Everything else is correct, up to a point. Most of the Manpower taken on at Castle Bromwich in the last few months are on limited time contracts and due to the reasons they were employed (ie short term cover to facilitate labour movement for new projects) will probably be let go at the end of these contracts.0 -

Even when you got a full time Jag contract you still wouldn't gain full employment rights and be eligible for things like redundancy or eligible to claim unfair dismissal until you had been a JLR employee for two years.0 -

Sorry yes, that's the same for any employer.
I read it as you didn't get a full contract till two years.0 -
I am currently employed on a full time contract with another employer but on crap wages..
I have passed the interview and am awaiting a start date with manpower jlr... with all that's going on and from what I have read on here now, maybe I should stay where I am ?0
