  • you have to follow instruction and fit brake pads and stick magnets and clip few wires, u have to listen to the instructions
  • Can any body help with this. I was taken on at jlr halewood August 2014 and was laid off for 3 weeks in June then brought back for 3 weeks laid off for 1 week then I have been back since. I have gone past my anniversary point by almost 5 weeks now and as far as am aware I should be due a temp jag contract. However I have been in touch with hr and the Union and they have both said that there is a backlog, they won't tell me whether an eligible or not to move over and have given me no time frame whatsoever on when I will find out. Does anybody have any similar experiences to this? Is this normal? Thanks in advance
  • Have a manual assessment this week. Help will be definitely appreciated - in regards to what do the examiners look out for, how did you do it, etc. Could you inbox me please.

    Regards
  • Does anybody know what shift they run in Bodyshop 2 in Solihull currently? Thanks.
  • Hey, from your post I'm assuming you must've passed the manual - could you inform more about it, as to what examiners are looking for?

    Help wil be much appricated
  • Has anyone been given interview yets?

When you were brought back for three weeks was that doing the weekend overtime on a Saturday and a Sunday. If it was then that doesn't count towards service because it wasn't full time. It happened to a couple of the lads I work with and their start date has been reset and the are on the 5yr manpower deals now.

I completed the manual in January and been at jlr for 7 months now, it's fairly simple you just have to fit a brake pedal and then stick some magnets on in a certain order. They explain to you before the process so just pay attention and listen and you have instructions. Just do things exactly as they tell you and as the instructions do as that's what they're looking for. For example you have to ratchet four bolts in for the brake but they tell you to do them in a clockwise order I seem to remember so little things like that. You get a minute at the start to read the instructions but they are fairly long winded. Best way I found to do it was to just listen and watch at the start carefully when they show you what to do and have a look at the instructions if you cannot remember something.

You also get asked to list a few things at the end which you feel would make the process easier. I would put about using power tools to speed it up, power tooling which requires you to tighten bolt up to a required torque can also be mentioned.

To the person who left the jig in, I done the same thing and got through so wouldn't worry too much.

    Hope this helps guys,
  • I completed the online assessment and was asked to go to do the manual, after I did it I didn't hear nothing for over a week, so I rang them, they told me that manpower don't deal with what happens after the manual, but he passed my details on and I got a call from a bloke from Jlr saying I had passed the it, he said they was just sorting out the next stage,
So I'm wondering if I'll be givin a interview or is it done case by case even if you have passed the assessments?

    Cheers

Yes manpower are fairly slow in general unfortunately. But yes you should definitely get an interview if you've passed the manual, I think they've only just started this recruitment period so that might be why your waiting for an interview.
