Unlike before where you would definitely get an STC from JLR after 12 months, now you could potentially wait for 5 years before you get a permanent contract from JLR. On an individual bases you could potentially get a contract after 12 months, most likely if a permanent worker left. The reality is that a 5 year wait will be a strong possibility for the majority of the new starters - I'm one of them and accept it, keep your head down and you'll enjoy the normal pay increments and will have a job for the long immediate future, all be it on a 'temporary on going' bases, and maybe, eventually you might even get a contract from JLR before the 5 years.

Can someone tell me how much 100% means? What hourly rate are jag workers on then that we have to catch up with?

100% works out at around £16.10ph before any shift premium.

Does anyone recall how long it takes for them to get back to you after the initial online test. I heard they send an email within 48 hours if you fail, last time I remember them calling me within a week but it's been almost two now and I've heard nothing back.

    Hmmm

My oh received an email saying they would get in touch regarding the "next stages in due course" almost instantly (can't remember exactly but it was within 24hours), he then waited 5 weeks before they sent another email telling him they weren't taking his application further "due to the overwhelming high level of response received".

First time round he was waiting 6 weeks before he received a call to book a manual assessment. Some people hear back quicker than others, if you've failed the online tests then they let you know via email pretty much straight away. But passing the online test isn't a guarantee of getting to the next stage as we found out recently. It's very much a pot luck thing I think.

Coming to the end of my first week in the bodyshop. Not difficult work but when it's constant and your team is short and you have to do 2 peoples jobs by yourself it wipes you out!

    Enjoying it though :)
  • evening everyone, i had my manual assessment on tuesday and got a call today for the final interview in two weeks time! There is over 200 pages and i'm sure someone has said before but a quick question, what will it entail? it says expect it to be 3 hours long...what kind of questions etc will be asked? Also it says for two personal referees but no previous employers...who would this consist of? Ive recently moved house so not really got any close neighbours etc who know me...
any help will be gratefully received...
    thanks

No, your hourly rate is for the particular shift you're on. 11.25 on days, 15.10 on nights, 13.85 if you're on a 3 shift pattern

    Day - 3
Went in for 2pm, went too the classroom where I've been for the last few days and did a english writing test. It took me about 15 mins then I left the room and waited about for around 2 hours and went into another room and sat there basically speaking and having a laugh while filling out my portfolio. Last day today!! YAY TOO THE WEEKEND!
