How much/many breaks per 8hr shift? Is it paid or unpaid?

You don't do many 8 hour shifts the majority are either 6-1.30 , 1.30-9.00,9.00-6.00 where you get about 2 15 minute paid breaks give or take a few minutes, you get paid for 36 hours on this system (3 shift)

Or if you do 2 weeks about on days and nights you have 1 15 minute paid and 1 11 minute paid break and a 30 minute unpaid lunch which equals to 37 paid hours a week. Which the hours are 7-3.30 and 8.45-6.30

I've been told different. It's still a year with Manpower and then you get offered a contract. Thats what I've been told by numerous people at the factory

Not the the case im afraid mate. there are a lot of people at the plant that dont know this. Ask manpower or a union rep and im sure they will tell you the truth!

It's a 5 year walk up to 100% and any time after the first year you could be offered a contract. However the load being taken on now will more than likely not be offered one sooner rather than later.

I've just had a text through on my phone, saying i have one new voice mail,i listened to the voice mail and its from a company called E-PPL saying they have work for me at Jaguar Landrover Halewood(immediate start) i thought Jaguars agency was Manpower? i applied for a skilled trade roll last year sometime(with manpower) but they only had positions in the midlands since then i have returned to study so i very much doubt they are going to accommodate me.

There are quite a few agencies/companies working on JLR sites:
    Manpower > JLR (core manufacturing)
    Staffline > DHL (logistics/part sequencing)
    E-PPL (electrical/mechanical support - generally skilled trades)
    G&P (manufacturing support/quality checks)
    Draxlmaier (electrical components/harnesses)
    Voith (environmental management/recycling)

There are no guarantees but speaking for the midlands a number of E-PPL were taken on inhouse recently. Skilled trades especially auto electricians are in high demand. Perhaps you can negotiate working hours with E-PPL to suit your studies?

Hiya those figures dont sound right to me declan. The trainer bloke on my manual assessment said days was 410 in your hand after tax. And twytchee said double days is £13 somethin an hour!!

Declan is spot on, I pick up 334.92 after tax on days for 2 weeks and then 430.61 on nights for two weeks. 11.25 an hour days and 15.10 an hour on nights. The manual assessment guy will be core and he will have no real idea of what manpower pay
  • You won't pick up 410 on 2 weeks days 2 weeks nights either. Like I said, days take home is 334 and nights is 430, and that's in FA2, and that's not going 3 shift till next February we've been told

The pay deal struck last November is JLR want 90 percent core and 10 percent agency. New starters as if Jan 1st 2015 will only be offered JLR contracts as and when core workers retire or leave and core staff fall to below 90 percent of the workforce and then it will be on a first in basis
