manual assessment at Jag/Land Rover

Guys,
Did my online assesments last wednesday and had a phone call last last friday to attend the assesments at Jag castle brom on monday 30/07/12.
Anyway got to jag yesterday and was expecting the assesment to be the clutch assembly which i did at solihul but it was a brake box assembly and seemed more difficult to me, you only get 8 minutes and sadly i never completed it, maybe if i was a mechanic i would have done it.
Then it was the magnets test i.e place magnets in there location and then remove in the same order.
I.e black/blue black/blue/green and then repeated again making 4 times.
Then we had to sit the online assessments again, not the same questions but similar obviously to rule out cheaters, you need to login to the CareerHarmony System with your username/password when you first registered.
I know i failed the brake assembly but think i passed the magnets and online assesments but had a rejection email this morning a day after stating.
Now what stinks is that i worked at rover down at longbridge for 15 years until it went down and so have all that experience.
I did 15 years in the paint operations from seam sealing to spraying to polishing and paint rectification but it just comes down to if you pass the test or not regardless of experience.
Oh well back to looking for telecoms/computer jobs i guess.
Can you give us more of insight into the brake assembly, how to do it? Any hints? Some people said this test is nothing to worry about and its common sense. Also does the instructor show you before you actually start making the brake assembly?0 -

yes they do show you once and you get your own assessor who watches how you assemble it etc.
Basically theres a big break servo (quite heavy and bulky )which you have to attach to a jig, you then have to fit the break pedal to the jig so its alligned up with the servo and attach 4 green bolts and then tighen with torque wrench, then theres more bolts/nuts and a electrical/sensor which you have to plug in.
As i said i didnt get very far and didnt complete it.
But i noticed the other guys doing the test that their assessors was giving them some encouragement by offering wink wink (id do it this way)
etc but i had this girl who didnt even speak or help me out at all.
But im one of 3 guys who used to work at rover and we all failed the tests at land rover etc.
The jobs on the track are not as difficult as the brake assembly test and you get proper training and tips from the guy showing you the job etc.
But im sure most guys who work at land rover/jag would fail that test.
If i had to build a computer id have no problem, i guess im not just upto doing assembly work, some guys find it easy but i just panicked and !!!!ed it up.0 -
