Donone,
You have got no chance of being moved. You are on trim/final and that is where you will stay unless you have a trade, i.e. welding etc. Very few new recruits get into the Press because that is where serious money is made and The Fordies and old Jag workers want to get in there to boost there alreadly sizeable pensions. so if any new ones do go in there, there is murder!!
Anyway rumour has it that Trim is best to be on, in terms of gettting a permanent contract.
You are best not to ask to be moved because your supervisor won't be impressed.
Cheers for the advise, these are the type of questions that you don't want to broach whilst on a temp contract!
I just want to get on with it now tbh, bit nervous about dropping stuff etc but practice makes perfect0 -
Trim is easy enough, you could be going anything from putting a headlight in to mating the body to the drivetrain.0

Hi there, just wanted to tell anyone who has recieved the generic rejection/put name on file for 12 months E-mail from Manpower not to lose hope. Hubby got his rejection E-mail 10 days ago and then recieved a phone call today asking him to start tomorrow! It does definately help though if you phone up (after recieving E-mail) and say you are availiable to start straight away .Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!0

I've been at Land Rover (Solihull) for about 2 months now and love it. The work is easy but I have a lot to do so build up quite a sweat. They aren't all that bothered about you bring unable to keep on top of a job, as long as you try hard and give it your best shot they are willing to compromise/help. It's when you don't even try where they get annoyed and they are more then willing to watch you sink and get miles behind. All you have to do to get on is keep your head down, work hard and make an effort with the other people in your area. I've been on about 5 different jobs in my time there and I know i'm being moved again in 2 weeks time. I'm looking at it as only a positive thing. The more jobs I learn the more chance I have off being kept on if/when they're looking to ditch people.
They have sacked plenty of people for lying on the application. So my advice would be not to even try it. The money is great and the benefits are just great if you're taken on a full time contract.
Good luck to the people still waiting to hear. I know they are still contacting people and could see 40-50 new starters on the Monday just gone.0 -
Many thanks for that Dave. Very informative and puts my hubby at ease as he was a bit apprehensive over keeping up, as he has been thrown in at the deep end on his first day with very little training. Going from your post and what he judged on his first day, it appears he has a starter job there at the moment but it looks like they build your skills up with moves to different sub-sections from 2 weeks onwards. He will be able to judge how the system works more in the next couple of days.
Again, many thanks....on earlies tomorrow and all week
Are you on X shift? Same as hubby!Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!0
