Cheers, Just said that I hadn't heard and I was informed last week that I'd be getting an e-mail last friday at the latest. Then informed them that I was available asap as I wasn't currently working. Hope this helps :-)

I just told them I hadn't had an e-mail that they'd promised to send, the woman on the phone said she'd be in touch the next day. Got an email saying I hadn't gotten the job, then got a phone call asking if I'd gotten the e-mail I said yes I'm free to start ASAP as and when you need someone... 3 hours later I got a call asking if I could start :-)

Well done to all those who got a start recently. Trim and Final are going on a 3 shift pattern starting week after next. Mornings/Lates/Nights. The only time you do a four day week is on nights. Mon through to Thurs night. Press and BIW underbody are on continental shifts. 2 days 6am - 6pm two nights 6pm-6am then approx 4 days off. The jobs are not difficult and you get about a week to learn a job and then you get signed off which means you can do it and hold the line,

If you need any more info just ask!:)

Cheers Garlayne, I've got my first shift tomorrow 1.30 - 8pm so looking forward, will get the hang off things eventually me thinks! Did all the skill school things fine, so can imagine it to be similar to that... only every 70 seconds and about 4-5 more things at once! ;)

I'm in at 6.30am tomorrow, not sure what time the shift finishes, just know I'm on trim and final. Have only done the Thursday myself, skill school and a bit of a look round, mostly filling in forms and chatting to the manpower guy, had a nightmere on friday, my back bedroom ceiling came through with all the rain (haven't worked for a bit and our roofs been on its way out for a while now) so had to call up and let them know, seemed understanding enough just hope it doesn't go against me (they said it wouldn't, fingers crossed!)

Garlayne, obviously I haven't done the job yet (trim and final) but what is the best way to get moved around, the press etc?

    Cheers

    Donone,
You have got no chance of being moved. You are on trim/final and that is where you will stay unless you have a trade, i.e. welding etc. Very few new recruits get into the Press because that is where serious money is made and The Fordies and old Jag workers want to get in there to boost there alreadly sizeable pensions. so if any new ones do go in there, there is murder!!
Anyway rumour has it that Trim is best to be on, in terms of gettting a permanent contract.
You are best not to ask to be moved because your supervisor won't be impressed.
