manual assessment at Jag/Land Rover

Same here did my manual assessment on monday... didnt finish the assembly but was nearly there. The examiner I had was miserable. no communication and at the end when i asked if if not completeing the assembly resulted in a failure he just shrugged his shoulders and pulled a face.
I have had over 4 years experience as an MOT tester and I really cannot believe that just failing an assembly task can prevent you getting the position.
Most of the job role does not require assembly. I really am surprised and think Manpower should look at this further because I feel experience would be far more beneficial than just completeling one assembly.
Anyway i wish the best of luck to all who apply.
From my past experience with JLR Solihull, even if you pass this stage and the interview stage they still make you wait and then say sorry the positions are full.
Happened to me.
Anyway wasnt meant to be. Good luck to all0 -
Anymore in depth detail with regards to the brake assessmbly what you have to do Zepps?0

Does anybody know what the short assessment is at the interview stage?? I had my manual assessment yesterday morning and received a call earlier asking me to come in for an interview tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully fingers crossed this time tomorrow I will be feeling a lot more confident about getting a job here.0

The brake assembly shouldn't be a problem really if you just watch the demonstration and make some simple mental notes. I have a relatively low level of experience and managed to complete it in the time allocated.
Try not to get put off by the other candidates while they are assembling their brake. I was in a group with about 4 mechanical geniuses, they all seemed to be so much faster than me and I could see them way ahead of me also, don't panic and just focus on yourself.
Good luck0 -
Thanks cloaker hope you get the job. And also was your online assessments which you took at jaguar cars also the same as the first ever online assessments you would of done ie the identical non identical and the 29 questions was it the same assessments for you too?0

Yes the online test was exactly the same as the first one that we had to do. Good luck mate!!0

locall I completly agree my assesor which was a bird didnt even accnowledge me which put me off straight away, but i could hear the other assesors talking in the background.
But as i said in my earlier post i worked at Rover for 15 years in paint operations and obviously my experience doesnt count, I even have BIT (business improvment techniques) and that doesnt count even thru jag/land rover put you though the BIT course once your in.
But as far as the break assembly goes as long as you can get the servo connected to the break pedal with the 4 bolts torque wrenced then thats 60% completed.
Cant say much else as i didnt complete it.0 -
