I'm surprised that there is no mention of the Co-op on here. I originally took cover out through a special offer of £49 for full UK and European assistance including home start, onward travel, hire car, hotel expenses etc. This is cover on the vehicle not the individual but as we have just one car this works out fine. Last year I got the same offer through for £49 and the renewal has just arrived for the forthcoming year, £45! As a co-op member I get membership points on that too. Definitely worth keeping your eyes peeled for the discount code (last year i just called and said that if they gave me the £49 offer I would take out a policy and it worked!)0

Hi All
I've used AutoAid for the past 6 years, made a total of 2 claims worth about £130 whereas my premiums have been just over £200 in that time.
Sounds like it would be cheaper just to pay a breakdown company each time, from my own money - rather than claiming it back from AutoAid (and first paying their premiums!).
Has anyone tried that?
Regards

I read the article and decided to get the RAC offer through topcashback.co.uk. The Article says Homestart comes in at about £65 after the £40.40 cashback. What it fails to mention, is that if you get cover as an 'individual' not just the vehicle, you qualify for an additional £50 fuel voucher! I jumped on that - pretty stunning deal. Was this only just introduced or something?
Works out like this:
Single Roadside & Recovery & At Home - £104.99
New Member price: £154.00, online discount £49.01 = you pay £104.99
This will include:
Roadside
Recovery
At Home
FREE £50 Fuel Voucher
And then, add to that, the £40.40 cashback, means you end up paying ess than £15!0 -

The RAC £50 fuel voucher offer has T&Cs i.e.
"Offer not available via price comparison, voucher or cash back websites"0 -
I see, but I don't really understand why it makes a difference what site you visited prior to the RAC site, in legal terms. The breakdown cover was still taken out as normal via the RAC site. Nonetheless, if it doesn't qualify so be it. I guess I'll find out.
In future, if anyone wants this deal it would then be better to go direct to RAC as you will be £9.60 better off. MSE need to update their article!0 -
RAC renewal came through only £2 cheaper than last year even though we've made no claim this year but did last, renewal about £76. I have done the cancel and reapply under my partners name in the past to take advantage of quidco cashback, we use 'vehicle' cover so doesn't matter whose name is on the policy. AA have quite good cashback at the moment and looking at getting cover for around £50 if you count the cashback, phoned to cancel RAC on Monday, no questions asked. Got a call out of the blue tonight from a very nice young man asking how he can get me to stay? told him id get it £50 from AA, he went away and came back offering £46! delighted!0

We went for AA last year but never got the TCB cashback so I would be wary about factoring this into the cost.
We are going back to brokerage cover, same RAC cover (top cover inc Euro) for £60-£70.0 -
