A warning re the Quotelinedirect cover flagged as value for money on this site - it won't insure you in Europe for 1st ten days in Europe of your first trip. Fairly useless if you just want it for 2 weeks summer holiday.0

I've just been quoted £91.16 by greenflag (rescue plus level) to cover 2 cars (5 & 8 years old), one driven by oh and me other by us + 2 daughters. Looking around online I can't find better, used to be happily with autoaid but they wouldn't cover daughters. Is this the cheapest I can get for this level (all but international) with the obvious option of haggling with greenflag? Both autoaid and greenflag use the same local recovery firm here.0

Like previous poster, was skeptical about autoaid's £39 full cover. Had a need to contact them. Truck came in 20 mins, fixed it and on my way. Paid the guy by credit card and was fully reimbursed in less than a week by autoaid.
Forget the rest. This is all anybody needs.0 -
I've done comparisons and decided to stay and renew with Vehicle Rescue Direct (though I did not find them listed on comparison site). Their basic UK policy is just £25.95, which is all I need. I only had need to call on them once and they were very helpful, although I subsequently cancelled the callout as I found someone to try a jump start which worked, so cannot say more on that. They use AXA - which is a big name company, so appears to be excellent value for money.0

Can anyone advise?
I have a 2001 Skoda Octavia and plan a trip of no more than 30 days around Eastern Europe with my son
I make a few short trips throughout the year to places like Paris, Holland and Germany, usually lasting 5 to 7 days. I think I can manage on 60 days a year if cover requires it
MSE recommend The Green Insurance Company who quoted me £100
Qdos quoted me £75
Has anyone had any experiences with either.
Is there a difference between the 2 which makes it worth paying £25 extra
I'm sure I saw another company on MSE site a few weeks ago which was a bit cheaper but don't see it now
Any advice and experiences? I'm all ears.

My Mum has Gold membership with the AA (she's been with them for 20 years). Her renewal notice just came through as £179 for 2 people roadside and relay. Her old car used to break down several times a year, so she got plenty of use out of them and was happy with their service, but the last 2 years she hasn't needed them at all. The cost also seems to have almost doubled in recent years, what's the best way to get it cheaper? Can she drop some of the "Gold benefits" and pay less? Could she cancel and start again (since new customers seem to pay a lot less - £109 I think) or should I try to convince her to shop around and try a different company? She drives a lot, including quite a bit alone and late at night, so being let down by a company, if she needs them, worries her a little.0

AA offered me EU cover for £323.57 which is extremely high by comparison but their level of cover is impressiveIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
Hi, I have fully comp UK AA breakdown cover for the UK and am looking to get some European cover for a fortnights trip this summer. I need something fully comp with relay, repatriate the car etc is necessary. The AA have quoted me £146, which is about the cost of my annual UK cover!
Can anyone recommend a cheaper option which provides comprehensive breakdown cover for Europe? Obviously I already have annual UK cover so wouldn't want to duplicate.
And I should say the car in question is over ten years old (but not over 15)0
