I must say I'm with Allieblue73 on this complaint on this one. When I was living in India it was cheaper to post parcels and letters to my relatives in the Uk than it costs to post the across a city in the UK. Th price is unbelievable - which is how it often works out cheaper and more reliable to use a door to door courier than queue in th post office. Rant now over.
Question time?
After the hike you can obviously use a first class stamp to post a first class letter. But the question is can you combine first class stamps to make other amounts. For example to send something which costs £1.75 could you use 3 46p stamps - as their collective new value would be 3x60p ie £1.80
yes.
we have multiple postage threads running now,and the same questions are coming up.
people seem to worry about postage a lot when they only seem to mention christmas cards.
as for India. Is that a monopolised service? So you would be comparing the prices now with RM prices 10+ years ago?0 -
That was the prices in India 3 years ago with the prices in the Uk 3 years ago. I strongly suspect that the price in india has gone up by less than the UK price though. There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0

So I'll say it again. Is it a monopolised service?
what competitors does it have?
what is the average wage?
do they have a USO?
do you really see India pricing as comparable with the UK?0 -
It won't be money stored under the matress anymore; it will be 1st and 2nd class stamps.
Should get a very good return on them in a few years time...just hope they don't start printing the price on them anytime soon.0 -

Back to the Grabbit....
I don't know the prices, but COstco sell books of stamps, which work out a little bit cheaper than current prices. You have to buy quite a lot in one go (about £20 IIRC), but with price rises like these, I am going to pick some up next t ime I visit Costco.“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -
I hope all these stamps with Queen Elizabeth's head on are going to remain postally valid after she's been replaced by Charles (or whoever).0
