  • Hi,

I can confirm that WHSmiths have stopped giving 5% off on stamps (just tried it).

I do a lot of ebay selling so go through 2nd and 1st class large. I've just done an internet shop with Sainsburys - they are doing £10 off £50 but you pay for delivery.

So I chose saturday night 7-8pm which was £2.75, added just over £50 in stamps and the voucher code and paid total of ~£43 for £50 worth of stamps. Its around a 14% saving on current price so good value.

Whether they will deliver just stamps to my house though is a different matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will see on saturday night! :rotfl:

I look at the Ocado offer of £30 off £90 but stamps were excluded and my Mrs is using the £10 off £50 at tescos online on food so that was already nabbed.

    Gary.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to buy books (or loose) of 2nd class large letter stamps which don't have the current 58p rate on them? Do they just have 'large letter' printed on? I have started posting eBay bits which use these stamps and would like to stock up at the lower price. Thanks for any help in advance.

Tesco online sell books of 4 x large 2nd class for £2.32 - they should just say large I think.

Just beware just ordering just stamps from Tesco etc especially if you do not usually get your delivery from them.

I work in a Tesco Dot.Com and if an order came through with £50 worth of stamps and nothing else we would probably cancel it as a possible fraud as it is an unusual order. I know it is not fair but that is the way it is.

Looks like they are changing the colour of 1st class stamps from gold to light blue (as in custardy post above). If this is so then will the gold 1st class still be valid?
No buying toiletries challenge - possibly for most of 2011,2012,2013,2014,2015!

Whilst I can understand everyones shock at such a steep rise just a few thoughts/facts to throw into the mix.
Getting an item from the south coast to Scotland only costs 60p pretty good value really considering the distance.
RM were not allowed to put the price of stamps up for a long time so whilst the cost of delivering a letter increased they were not allowed to put prices up to reflect the increasing costs.
If the post office is privatised there will be even more price rises as the companies who take over will want healthy profit margins and posting to those living in rural areas for example may cost you more. Some more isolated areas may not even get a doorstep delivery anymore as it wont be profiatble.
So whilst it's yet another increase we have to bear the bigger picture is that the postal service as we know it is under threat and the more vulnerable members of our society will be hardest hit.
