SDW that is lovely. I have been following your story since the start. It shows that you are an integrated part of the family.
How kind that they have included your son and husband too.0 -

She left a lot of people and organisations an amount of money. It was indeed lovely of her to remember my son and husband. My son (the blood relative), has been left more than my husband, but tbh, none of us expected anything, it wa such a surprise. My son has a 25 hour minimum wage job, she has left him the equivalent of a year's wages, he is gobsmacked.
What a lovely lady, I wish I had known her for longer.
My mother will never have any money worries either, for the rest of her life,we really are truly blessed.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Gulp. I have just realised that Aunty V.made her will on 19th November 2012. We had our first meeting on 25th October 2012. At this stage she had only met me and my husband once and had not met our son at all! She obviously thought a lot of the blood tie.
The female executor, S, (the niece of Auntie V's husband, who was there when we first met), I think, reading between the lines and from things Mother, Aunt and the male executor M have said) is not terribly well thought of in the family and in fact has tried to pull the wool over my eyes about certain things ot do with the will. I have begun to wonder whether it was she who delayed the initial meeting between us, because Auntie V kept saying 'S wants to be there'. Now I know the family better, I realise that the most likely person to be there was M, although he did appear later.
I have said nothing to anyone, nor will not, I don't want to cause trouble. S. has been well provided for (the same as M) in the will.
But Aunty V obviously intended me to have that money!!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have been calling "D & V" Daisy and Vi in my head as they are fantastic old lady names. Better to have arrived late in their lives than never at all.
:rotfl::rotfl: They are not Daisy and Vi, although Aunty V's name was indeed that of a plant.
I still give thanks daily for my good fortune. Not just the money, but the gesture and more importantly, the relationship that I have had with Mother and Auntie V, I really have been incredibly blessed in my life.
I am a believer in God and I can see his hand on my life so clearly here, the fact that I had wonderful adoptive parents, then when I was 21 I met my wonderful husband and we have been so happy ever since, a brilliant son who has never brought us any trouble, then another Mother and Aunt since I became a pensioner and two new friends in M and his wife. The money is just the icing on the cake. I am so blessed to have all that. I know I have done nothing to deserve it, but that is what the grace of God is, undeserved favour. Auntie V was a believer too, I can see her smiling down now, having given another person, who came late into her long life, so much pleasure. As another friend of mine says, so eloquently, 'God smiled' .
Sorry to wax so mystical, I am feeling full today and need to publicly say thanks. x(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have just spent the afternoon reading your story and it has left a lump in my throat.
I am not an adoptee but my father's girlfriend had twins in the late '60s who were given up for adoption in a closed adoption. I was born a few years later when my parents were married but I have known about these twins for years.
Sadly my dad passed away 20 years ago and the birth mother now lives in Italy. I recently found out that she has been searching for her children for many years without any luck. I hope one day we will have the same happy ending you had.
I do believe God has a plan for all of us and if it is His will, then we will all one day be united.0 -
I have had a house sign made for our new bungalow, it has the address on and a name which remembers Auntie V. Hope she approves!
Seeing mother and M and his wife on Wednesday, we try to meet up once a month. We are going to see if she can come to us for Christmas this year.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Mother is coming to us for Christmas.
. Her eyes filled up when I asked her.
Logistics of travelling a little challenging as we will have six people, four of whom are non-drivers and one car!
My son will be picked up first and come with me 30 miles up the M6 to pick mother up. Hope to get back to ours by 12. Then he can entertain her while my husband does the cooking and I go off again, pick up his girlfriend and travel about four miles from one side of the city to the other to pick her mother up.
Hopefully at some point we will have lunch ! and then later we will leave the 'kids' in the bungalow whilst my husband and I take both mothers back. Then take the 'kids' back whenever they are ready to go, or they could at a pinch walk, it would take them about twenty minutes.
On boxing day we will relax
It's also our first Christmas in our new bungalow
