I too am glad I got to know them and SO GLAD that in the summer we took Auntie V to the church she had attended for years to see the altar curtain she had donated after her husband died. She hadn't been able to get there for some time and was so glad to see it (she called it 'A's curtain). Really glad we could do that for her :)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

So sad, but you both got to know each other, which I'm sure was a joy to her as I guess it was to you as well.
It was so nice that she managed to see the church again which was something she probally didn't expect to see, hope your mum is ok and you of course

I spent a while reading this thread a while ago sdw. So glad you to to know her x
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door
  • I am a bit upset but glad I got to know her. It's just that (imho and my husband's) she was so much like me, to look at and in character and sense of humour. The first time I met her it was like meeting myself thirty years in the future :)

Mother is fine, I have spoken to her, although upset she is just relieved that V hasn't got to linger on any more. I can't get to see her until the first week in February unfortunately, we have every day booked next week. I hope the funeral is not before then...obviously if it is we will have to cancel something, but would prefer not to as it is all pretty important.

I hope the day goes well for you all. Do you think you'll get to meet more family there?

I don't think there is any, other than some nieces and nephews by marriage of one of their sisters, and I have already met them.

    However, we shall see.

I suspect that you have been part of birthmother and aunties lives for a long time even if not present physically.

Having you there on the day will be a comfort for birthmother.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
