That's lovely that you will all be together

Debt-free and Proud! I've been Money Tipped!
SDW - Just spent time reading the entire thread, with tears in my eyes. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, God bless.
  • Mother and male relative approved totally of the house name which has Auntie V's name in it, and love the sign I have had made.

Must get hubby to put it up in time for Christmas!!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • It is a year today since Auntie V died. I have rung mother and lit a candle in V's memory.

Update to say still seeing Mother once a month, usually with M and his wife, we go to a carvery in Longton.

M has not been well recently, has been hospitalised a couple of times for tests, so hope things can be cleared up. He is a bit older than I originally thought, early 70s and spends a lot of time looking after other people; apart from Mother he looks after his grandchildren quite a lot.

He is the sort of person who likes looking after people, but I hope it's not getting too much for him.

Mother has had her house rewired, with plugs all at easy-reach height, and has had her central heating updated and a new superduper electric fire. It is good for me to know she doesn't have to chose between heating and eating. She will never have any money worries.

She has also had a medical check up and been pronounced 'fit as a fiddle', she is on no medication - I am on more than she is!

Nice to know there are good genes in the family :)

  • Hi, resurrected this again to say, relationship with mother good, she came to us again for Christmas - and I will remember Auntie V on the 23rd, the day of her death, although I remember her every day x

Thought I would use this thread to give some more news of long-lost family.

My husband knew no-one on his father's side apart from one Grandad.

Anyway, he put his father's and grandad's names into Missing You (the same site I found Mother and Auntie V on).

Lo and behold, it turned out his Grandad had NINE children, including my husband's father  All those Uncles and Aunties he never knew :( So you don't need to be adopted to not know your family.

Someone else happened to be researching the same family tree and got in touch!! She is a daughter of one of my husband's unknown cousins (now unfortunately deceased). We are all now friends on FB although we haven't as yet met. She lives near my Birth Mother, what a co-incidence.

Then on New Year's Eve a man got in touch, with the same surname as the person we already were in touch with - turned out to be her uncle, and my husband's first cousin (his mum was my husband's aunt). So we also are friends on FB.

We are in the process of arranging a meet up, halfway from where we both live. Exciting!!

    Watch this space.
