Hi, updating again to say I have now been to see my mother on my own, just the two of us, we had a lovely time, today I am going to make arrangements to visit her next week with my son.
Just heard from a friend of mine who has traced his sister, they were separated as babies (one went with the dad and one with the mum). How lovely.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Hi there all, just returned to this thread to say my birth mother and I have continued to meet, either on my own or with my husband and/or son. Today myself and my son are visiting. I'm glad he is coming with me as mother and I don't actually have interests in common and it is a bit difficult to find things to talk about, whereas my son rattles his life off to her, teaches how how to use his complicated phone, talks to her about films he's seen, makes her laugh etc. He finds more to talk to her about that I do!
I'm so glad he has had the opportunity to meet his birth grandma, all his other grandparents are dead and he only had one that was his by blood - my husband's mother, (her husband was my husband's stepfather, so although our son loved him he still was not a blood relative).
Wish us well and I'll keep the thread updated as and when.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Thank you for the update, I think it's normal to be stuck for conversation sometimes.
Any special plans for Christmas?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Always love hearing your updates 7DW. And it is wonderful that your son is able to engage so well with her.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

A lovely, lovely story.
Sadly, my birth mother had died two years before I found my natural family, but I found, and have been blessed with, several birth siblings who have been a great joy to me since our reunion.
All the best for the future.0 -

Looking at the photos, I hope I have inherited the gene of eternal youth! I think they look terrific for 86 and 96!
Sorry for the long delay in updating.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
