It seems disquiet over the uw is getting more widespread on the net (and now reached Sheffield!):

    This perhaps:

Big gas losses force Telecom Plus to sell

    Date: Thursday 16 Feb 2006
Telecom Plus is to sell its energy businesses to nPower for a nominal sum after losses in its gas business threatened the viability of the entire group.

Telecom Plus's chief executivemag-glass_10x10.gif Charles Wigoder has granted nPower an option to buy 12.9m shares from of his own personal holding, equal to 19% of the company, as part of the deal.

In total, nPower will get options on 29% of the shares in issue if the disposal goes through.

Telecom Plus warned in November that high energy prices had resulted in significant losses in its gas business.

Today's statement said it had incurred significant losses so far this winter due to high gas prices and had also been hit with substantial exceptional costs relating to the restructuring of the group ahead of today's deal.

Telecom Plus will provide npower with management services, such as billing, customer service, metering, debt collection and administration, in return for a commission on energy used by the customers. The deal is retrospective to 1 January.

"The sale de-risks the company and will allow us to run a profitable energy business," Charles Wigoder said.

Telecom Plus will not pay a dividend this year but directors anticipate being in a position to resume dividend payments in respect of the forthcoming financial year, the statement added.

    The 29% option lapsed.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Assuming that was directed at me(well gives an excuse to post some facts;))

The point is that UW have just about the most expensive gas and electricity in UK and UW salespersons like yourself(you forgot, as usual, to include that in your signature block as required) will now have to state in writing to prospective clients just how expensive your products are(pity it is not retrospective)

Anyway haven't UW IDs been advised not to participate in this thread by head office?

hi there is no reason why the gas and electric cant be changed asap as its on a rolling contract of 28 days when and if you do switch make sure you take both fuels from the same supplier as this is normally cheaper. uw dis
A rather dreadful mistake there, yes it is normally cheaper to use a dual fuel scheme, so your "make sure you take both from the same supplier" then "normally cheaper" doesn't make any sense ..

My point being, check all the options, sometimes it is cheaper to use separate suppliers, on extremely rare occasions it might even be cheaper with UW.

    That is my concern only

Good of you to reply, nevertheless!

(Doesn't seem the action of someone who tells us they want to be the Marlene Dietrich of the uw forum, though!)

As you have refused to accept my wish that you do not refer to me or quote me in your discussions you have left me no choice (as I told you) to make a formal complaint which I have now done. I consider this a matter of principle.

I also expect that something is done about.
Tough, your wish does not have to be taken into consideration.

I have avoided quoting or responding to anything you say for months, & not because of your puerile request not to be quoted.

If you make a post on a public forum you give implicit authorisation to be quoted and discussed.

If you don't like it asked the admin to remove you and all of your posts from the forum permanently and do what you said you would do. Don't come back either as Keggs or one of your other online personnas.

Insulting people is the sign of a worried individual. I have informed the abuse section that I have just one persona - keggs.

I like your last suggestion. I might just do that.
