Hello all - once again dipping my toe in these shark-infested waters, but I wanted to know if anyone (Jannine?) has experience of what to expect from their UW representative once they get wind of a customer leaving? I believe my fuel switch is going through and so I assume I'll be hearing from him (although I haven't seen him for about 2 years...) I expect this may already have been covered so I apologise if it's going over old ground, but the length of this thread... it's a marathon
Hi again EssexMum!
I didn't hear anything from the man who signed me up when I switched supplier to EDF, I was sent a letter from head office with the usual 'what can we do to keep you' which I expect is sent to everybody. Though I did sign up to UW about 7 years ago so maybe the rep is no longer working for UW, I really have no idea!
Sorry I couldn't help further, but let us know if you do hear anything from him!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Hi Jannine
Thanks for your reply, my rep used to keep in touch regularly but perhaps he's given it up too - he was already retirement-age! A very nice old chap though, so I'd hate it if he's obliged to come and try to persuade me to change my mind.
It's funny you mention you went to EDF - in the end that's who I decided on, via Sainsbury's Energy (for the nectar points!). The reviews here and elsewhere have put me off First:Utility and their smart-meter!
If I get anything more than a standard letter of confirmation I will certainly post the news.0 -

Who has the time or the patience to do that, just to ask a question ??
The search facility is nearly unusable in this thread so new posters have little recourse but to ask a question that has undoubtedly been asked previously, leading to an answer that has most probably been made on numerous occasions.0 -

We really should keep the subject solely on UW's prices and sales tactics; and a new thread would enable people to read about that subject without wading through hundreds of pages.
IMO it is the intent of many of the UW salespeople to move the discussion away from the the subject of their high prices and dubious sales techniques by raising other issues.
The UW salesmen would love to see this thread removed, indeed doubtless that is their objective!0 -
So what is incorrect about the following statement:For the benefit of new readers, and existing UW customers, be advised that:
UW gas and electricity is just about the most expensive in UK and £hundreds more than the cheapest tariff - generally around 30%.
That fact can be confirmed by checking the tariffs in any comparison website or by comparing the tariffs yourself. Use the WHICH comparison website if you wish.
There is no need to listen to either side of the argument on this thread, just confirm the facts with any independent source.
As an example the average UK customer uses 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity. In my area(Midlands) that will cost £894 with the cheapest supplier, the cheapest UW tariff is £1,199. That is £305 and 34% more expensive if you are silly enough to have UW as your gas and electricity supplier.
To repeat - Facts will suffice.0 -
Following the UW reps being warned off posting here by their HO, are all of them so scared of HO reprisals they have are reduced to coming here with new "untraceable" ids?
(And are they not prepared to stick to the rules and declare their interest?)0 -
Talking of facts, you have left several out that wouldn't support your argument, of course. And you know it. Like uptomyeyeballs has already stated, UW is a multi-service supplier and as such its value for money should be judged as such. Would you, for instance, state as fact that UW can't be the very best deal for ANYBODY?
Just stick to facts about this please. For the benefit of new readers, and existing UW customers, be advised that:

Correct or not?0 -

For the benefit of late comers to this thread, uptomyeyeballs posts in this thread in his role as a self confessed WUM:uptomyeyeballs wrote:I started posting there and they all seemed to be so serious and stuck up about it, posting such rubbish that I really couldn't resist it to wind some of them up a bit. It's a little boring though, as it's just the same arguments going round and round in circles. I'm bored with getting nowhere.0
