As you are very well aware, the whole point of this thread is Utility Warehouse. The aim of some of us is to combat the plain untruths that are being stated about UW prices by vested interests.
I would suggest also that we should show where all of our interests lie. I have no qualms about anybody combatting untruths as long as they themselves do not try and use untruths or bend the truth themselves. I have never deliberately tried to mislead anybody. In the past I have made mistakes and admit them when I do. Some others here do not. That is one reason I keep harping on to Quentin about his Utility Warehouse pre payment card beating cashback card. You state that your use of a cashback card has no bearing on the conversation. It does in that if you are not using one, you are likely to be paying more for goods or services than you need to. I have no problem with that as it is your choice and I presume that you accept the limitations of not using such a card. However you appear to not want others to have that same freedom of choice.

I'll ask you a question and please, just answer yes or no. Do you believe there is not one person (not being a UW distributor) who can benefit by being a Utility Warehouse customer?

I am a Utility Warehouse independent distributor and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

Would that be like you claiming that you have a Utility Warehouse pre payment card beating cashback card?

This is exactly the point I have been trying to make, but you put it much more succinctly, NigeWick. I'm sure Cardew actually does accept this point (at least I'm hoping he does, lol) but it's getting him to admit it that's the real problem. He simply cannot expect people on here to take any moneysaving advice seriously if he readily admits he doesn't actually take his own advice. It's not rocket science....

    I don't tell lies.

You should be concerned that a uw rep colleague of yours uses this forum to tell us the uw energy tariffs as they stand (ie without earning discounts by taking any other uw service) are cheaper than any others can supply irrespective of any discounts the others give!

But you seem happy to let him use the forum to post such unbelievable nonsense.

Prove it then. How many times have your UW-beating cashback card details been asked of you now? 100? 150? 200?

Why haven't you answered if that claim wasn't a lie?

I paid £82 last month for

    Gas 1620
    Leccy 390
    Phone Line Rental
    U/L BB
    ALL calls
    Monthly club fee.

Can you break this down further?
What were the charges for each of these?
What deduction did you get from the cash card?
What about the discounts you get for having promoted UW to friends/family? You've told us that you did this so....

Remember that any decuction you get from using the cashback card would also apply if you didn't take electricity or gas from UW.

So if you dropped UW for gas and electricity you would still get the same dedection. All you would lose is your 24/7 calls - how many calls to what destinations did you make?

The rest of your post is merely posturing and trying to make your descision look like the right one.

So it seems Cardew confesses to being wasteful with his energy, and admits to paying over the odds for his own bills. He says that discounts are unimportant. ll.

You have been taking too many lessons from the Troll.

I have said no such thing!

What I have consistently stated is that UW have just about the most expensive gas and electricity in UK. The average customer will pay £hundreds more

That is without doubt an accurate statement. Check with any comparison website.

    LOL. .

Still refusing to answer any questions.

    A. Once again you have totally avoided the questions.

If your figures are 'rock solid' then let us have them e.g.

    1. UW gas and electricity £2199,

    2. Broadcall £?????

    3. Discounts £???? (how they are achieved)

    B. What is wrong with my figures in reaching £1448 by taking cheap electricity from another company(and avoiding the £621 extra UW charge) UW Broadcall and Skype.

    Just answer A and B.

It is a racing certainty you won't answer!

    You have no credibility carrespress

Just to clarify my usage on energy so it can be checked independently.

I use UWDC for energy Midlands region

    electricity on economy 7
    night-time 13500 kwhs
    daytime 1500 kwhs
    gas 2000 kwhs
I only use gas for cooking and for 1 gas fire in lounge that is rarely used. The main central heating is on economy 7 storage heaters.

using Cardews favourite on-line energy swapping company energyhelpline the following results appear. All monthly direct debit.
    1. British Gas websaver 5 dual fuel £845
    2. E.ON - FixOnline NSC v4 (until Feb 2011) £851
    3. Atlantic Electric & Gas - Online Fixed Price £878
    4. Utility Warehouse - Low User economy 7 £883
    5. Utility Warehouse - Standard User economy 7 £897
These are the predicted spend over the next year. When I re-insert these into energyhelpline I noticed that british gas Websaver 4 would charge £902 and british gas websaver 3 £926. So how long before the Websaver 5 discount reduces its discount and websaver 6 replaces it, because websaver 4 was only introduced a few months ago. The online energy switching sites do not predict how prices will change.

However this is before any UWDC discounts are applied. Note the value for Utility Warehouse includes the membership fee. This is currently £20.70 a year. The discounts I get are far more than the membership fee and so negate it. In reality Utility Warehouse would then charge £862 for my energy. (2000 * 4.096 + 13500 * 3.5 + 1500 * 17.785)* 1.05 vat) = £862.25.

I use UWDC Broadcall that is £19.99 monthly. Having 4 services on one bill I get free calls 24/7 to national and global destinations and 0845/0870 numbers and 40GB usage up to 24mbps broadband including the line rental. My usage of the telephone is quite high and make many calls during the day. In some months I have used 80 hours but not every month. If I were to swap with the enerhelpline recommendation as cheapest I would loose the free calls I get with UWDC by taking 4 services.

I also have the cashback card and have spent £6500 a year on it because I try to spend as little as possible. I get all my food/petrol and a few other things on it. It costs about £17 a year to run the card. The discount has meant I get £308 cashback a year. Petrol is about £150 a month, food £300 and the rest is clothes, electrical. I always buy things in the sales at the lowest prices I can find.

I am a distributor as well. However, sometimes there are people who live too many miles away so I have recommended them to the 0800 number using the Customer Discount Plan CDP. I have recommended 11 people to this. 0.5% discount per service per month and a total of 39 services between them means I get 19.5% off my own bill every month based on total bill before cashback discounts are applied. This includes 19.5% off the cashback card fee and the membership fee. Over a year this saves 19.5% * £1139.03= £222.11. The great thing is all customers can recommend to the CDP and the company does the rest for you.

Over a year at current prices
    membership fee £20.70
    Broadcall Plus £19.99*12= £239.88
Energy gas and electricity = £862.25
Total before any discounts = £1122.83
    cashback card fee £12 + £0.35*12 = £16.20
    cashback card discount 5% of £6500= -£325
    CDP discount on 11 recommendations = 19.5% * £1122.83 = - £222.11
Total cost after discounts applied = £591.92

I would challenge anyone to get that all for that much. Even before discounts it's very cheap. I cannot find cheaper than £591.92. If I recommend another 11 people to the CDP over the next year then I can double that discount to £444.22 a year.

What it really shows is that people should not make false statements without knowing the facts first. Just wondering how much quentin pays each year for his choice of companies. He was quick to attack me as usual before actually knowing what the truth is.

Long Term UWDC Customer who became a Distributor because it proved to be good and other people liked it as well.

None of the above makes any attempt to justify your claim (lie) that the uw energy tariffs are cheaper than any of the other suppliers even before the uw discounts (earned by taking more services) are applied.
    vinnyph wrote:
My usage means that even without the UWDC discounts my dual fuel price with UWDC usually ends up being the cheapest out of all companies even with their discounts

When uw reps come here and make this type of ridiculous claim, is it any wonder MSE insist they do it only in this one thread?

It isn't spam, it's just downright deliberately misleading advertising, in short - lying.
