This thread doesn't really answer my questions about UW.
It seems to be a place for four or five regulars to get annoyed with each other's point of view.
I still want to know whether I should switch my gas and electricity from SWALEC to someone else - the comparison websites don't inspire confidence...
To get the best out of the comparison sites, use this process.
enter your annual consumption, current tariff/company/payment method
when you get your results make a note of them. Now go back and input the same consumption figures but this time enter the tariff/company that was recommended, if it finds a cheaper deal then you have to question the veracity of the results, if not you have your answer. do the same on a couple of sites and if you get the same recommendation each time you can be pretty sure it will save you money.
UW would be a horrendous choice for my pocket and for the vast majority of people but as with every rule there are exceptions. Though in UWs case the ones that get the lowest bills are those willing to make money out of their friends and family.0 -
Of course today is sunday so I will not be signing any customers today. However I will be back next week with news of new customers just to wind up the AUWF.
kippen noedel seems to think its his God given right to use as much energy as he so wishes even though we are running out of resources in the world. He then calls me arrogant.
So you see it that I was defending UWDC or myself. You seem to have an over inflated ego if you think that. People who have no creativity tend to try to push themselves up above others. The fact that you think I was defending must mean that you were trying to attack. Just wondering why you are on this thread in the first place. From what you said before you have a grudge against UWDC Distributors. Don't tell me that's the only reason. Why do you think I need to defend against you. Do you see yourself as above others because you are a landlord. Your purpose in life is collecting rent and paying it to the bank to pay off a mortgage it seems. When the book of your life is written this is your deed.Quentin's Cashback Card?

You really should become a UW saleman - you have exactly the right degree of deception in your statements.
I assume that your "retail spending pattern" involves spending £9,000 pa in the shops that accept the UW card. so getting £450 off your spend.
To reach a UW figure of £1859 I assume that you have included the 'one off' £100 discount for new customers only(you are a UW customer so wouldn't get that discount) So presumably £2199 less £450 = £1749 less £100 = £1,649 that leaves £210 for Broadcall? making £1859.
So is that how you reached that figure? If not please explain how £1859 is reached?
OK. Give or take the odd pound or two, would this be roughly the ballpark figures for a more sensible solution?
£1578 for cheap gas and electricity(instead of the £2199 that UW charge)
£240 for UW Broadcall. (incl monthly membership)
£80 for Skype calls anywhere in the world(40 countries)*
Total £1898 less £450 for your spending = £1448 instead if the £1859(or £1959)that your great UW package would cost.
*
As I understand it your basic Broadcall allows you to receive calls for free!
Skype has 3 packages, £3 monthly for unlimited UK calls, £4 monthly for Europe and UK, £7.80 monthly World/UK/Europe.
You can get cheaper packages for phonecalls I am sure, but whenever sensible schemes are put forward, you always bring into the equation the inflated added value of inclusive phone calls obtained by 4 UW services.. In reality phone calls are not expensive.
So what sleight of hand have I missed?
Have a go with a calculator this time, my figures are rock solid. Here's the thing: you make out you are some kind of moneysaving expert but I've actually demonstrated that when you come off the April 2010 fix and sign up with what you believe to be the cheapest energy deal, a punter signing up with UW for EXACTLY the same consumption figures in your area and taking the 4 services and replicating my retail spend on the cashback card would be paying approx £150 less per year for gas/electric/phone/BB/calls than if they took your advice and took your deal on. If you pardon the pun, a sobering thought, Rupert.
Of course, you could then hit back by pretending you use the amex cashback credit card to derive extra revenue from your retail spend (you don't but I'm trying to be kind). The cashback on this card on my retail spend on the UW card would equate to just £120 for the year (Note: you would have to wait 12 MONTHS for this to be paid to you!). Let's deduct this figure from the total spend payable by this punter if he took your deal on g/e/phone/bb/calls, shall we? Net figure would be £1898. STILL nearly £40 more than the UW punter.Call me Carmine....

This thread doesn't really answer my questions about UW. It seems to be a place for four or five regulars to get annoyed with each other's point of view. I simply want the truth - is UW an elaborate "pyramid selling" type of business, or does it really offer a genuine alternative? A friend once asked me to ring a UW number which I duly did, and got a recorded message telling me how I could be earning money by someone else putting the kettle on etc "every time they switch on a light, you get paid" type stuff. I didn't really like the message, and since then have been very wary of UW. But I still want to know whether I should switch my gas and electricity from SWALEC to someone else - the comparison websites don't inspire confidence...
If you are worried that UWDC is a pyramid scheme then it shows you are a nice person. I thought that before I actually signed up years ago and discovered it wasn't. Pyramid schemes were made illegal in 1973. I certainly wouldn't do it if it were. Then again, the big 6 energy providers have a pyramid structure where the guy at the top earns millions and the worker at the bottom earns not a lot.
The thing is, if I say anything positive about UWDC then as you can tell I will be shouted down by a number of self proclaimed experts and accused of touting for business. However, they don't like it when when I don't take notice. It winds them up.
Many people are not inspired by the price comparison sites that claim to be independent. I am an independent Distributor. All I will say is I have been a customer of UWDC a lot longer than any of them have been with the same companies. They have to keep swapping to get a discount, I don't. I continue get many different Discounts with UWDC. The rest is up to you. I'll be happy which ever company you choose, its up to you after all.

In reality, the same as any other company.
The greatest impact we can have, is that we simply use less.Quentin's Cashback Card?

The comparison sites are a lot more independent than a UW salesman thats for sure.
Go to a comparison site, you can sign up to a large number of energy suppliers, go to a UW salesman and all you will get is UW so they are bound to make it sound better.

In reality, the same as any other company.
In reality that is yet more rubbish from a UW salesman...
UW fuel mix is 3% from renewable http://www.fuelmix.co.uk/telecom_plus_fuel_mix_2008.htm
Good energy fuel mix is 100% http://www.fuelmix.co.uk/good_energy_fuel_mix_2008.htm
So its not the same as any other company is it.
Even if you dont compare it against a 100% green company like good energy its still very low
E-on for example is 11.2% http://www.fuelmix.co.uk/eon_fuel_mix_2008.htm
In actual fact, UW/Npower are the lowest suppliers of renewable in the UK.. http://www.fuelmix.co.uk/supplier_ranking.htm
So really its "In Vinnys own strange little UW dreamworld, the same as any other company"Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

As for usage, yes. it is higher than average however it is used for a specific purpose, I am not a wasteful person.
My purpose in life is certainly NOT collecting rent, & once again if you had read and taken in anything that has been discussed here you would know that I found it hilarious that I have had no debt for over 20years and was denied a credit card at first time of asking and had to appeal yet my 18yr old son with 6 months work experience was given one with 4800 credit limit. I only wanted it because of my holiday and not wanting to carry that kind of cash around.
The question why am I here, on this part of the forum, good question but one that isn't too easy to answer without launching into one of your meandering type diatribes. However, we ALL know why you are here.
On a different tack,
How do you reconcile yourself to a religion that was founded on fratricide & incest and has so many contradictions at it's core............ I bet I know the answer to that one...........0 -

So you think the online energy swapping companies are independent then? Will they tell me to stay where I am with UWDC, even though its the best option for me. They won't even mention any of the many discounts I get as a customer of UWDC that means I end up paying far less for my bill than I could anywhere else. Just because UWDC will not pay them a commission. They are paid millions by the other energy providers, how else would they be able to put out all those expensive adverts on TV, radio, newspapers, magazines etc. No wonder people don't trust them.
I am independent Distributor of UWDC, I don't have to recommend them. The recent training I went on said that if we couldn't make people a saving then be honest and walk away. I have always took that view anyway. However I find it happens so rarely that I can't save them money that I just be honest and say so. It's usually only because they are locked into contract with another company. I tell them come I'll back to them later. Often they will often refer someone onto me because they see I am honest and like the way UWDC works differently.
You are just making false statements again plushchris. It doesn't win you any prizes today.Quentin's Cashback Card?
