New bill just in. Just a shade over £80 for:
Gas 1620
Leccy 390
Phone Line Rental
U/L BB
ALL calls
If we accept (and I'd be surprised if any of you didn't accept this point) that £25/mth is a very very competitive price for U/L BB, phone line rental and all calls (including some international ones), then the gas and electric AND monthly club fee element of my bill comes to approx £55*. Can this be beaten by any of the tariffs the members of the AUWF are paying, I wonder?
PS I'm happy to accept members who may have been paying the same fixed rate for over 4 years in this challenge
UW - demonstrably cheaper than any other gas and electric supplier for me (and potentially millions of others out there)
* A 'clone' of me signing up now would actually effectively pay £47....Call me Carmine....

Oh, the banter. The reality is that quoted figures on the energy swapping sites do not include any of the many discounts with UWDC.
As such, they are not discounts off the energy, yes?
As such they should not be taken into account when only comparing energy?
Comparing the whole package is a different question, and seeing as even UW don't attempt this on their own website (instead making up numbers of calls, kWh and mobile phones), it is unlikely that an independent site would - there are very few providors of this type.0 -
I have never seen an advert for UW anywhere and the energy switching sites is a form of national advertising. What more proof do you need. A sworn statement from the Honorary Charles Wigoder himself. I really think everyone else realises that UWDC do not pay for national advertising. You should also. As advised before, realise when you are wrong.
You seem to be afflicted with the same gullibility as we see in the spanish teachers when it comes to uw.
Paying the switching sites a commission for passing on customers is an entirely different kettle of fish to placing national advertisements!
Where is this sworn statement regarding switching site payments?
And where do you think the switching sites get the money from to pay out cashback when anyone signs up to uw??0 -
What about the case of economy 7 usage of 2000kwhs gas 1000kwhs daytime electricity and 9000kwhs economy 7 rate. That disproves your statement the UWDC are always one of the highest.
So there we have a profile of a UW customer!;)
Using less than one tenth(less than 10%) of the UK average gas consumption.
Using over 3 times(over 300%) the UK average electricity consumption.
Then a completely unbelievable 90% of that electricity on Economy 7 rates i.e. using all that electricity during the night.
You know, I know, with any normal consumption profile that UW charge £hundreds a year more for their gas and electricity.
Mr and Mrs Average with the UW average consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity will pay £300 a year more with UW than the cheapest.
Generally most UW customers will pay around 30% more for their gas and electricity; although to be fair WHICH said it is around 20% extra with UW.0 -

Again you don't know or understand but you try to predict because it falls in line with your strange dislike for UWDC. The online energy switching sites are national based advertising companies and they are not independent as they claim to be. Where do they get the money for national advertising on TV, radio, newspapers etc, from the energy companies. UWDC do not because instead they use satisfied customers like me to tell their friends about it so don't need to advertise. The online energy switching sites won't detail the UWDC Discounts because of this. If you look at the UWDC site you will see the details in the company reports. There are no national advertising costs detailed on the UWDC annual report. I have checked a number of times directly with the executive directors to ensure this. I know some of the top distributors who go to the annual directors meeting and they have also verified this. UWDC is an open book company trading on the London stock exchange, they have to detail all of their expenditure. If there was anything spent on national advertising I would have found out. Before you start down this line either as you are very predictable, the online energy switching sites are national advertising campaigns. UWDC gets listed by most of them because the site has to detail them for completeness but they do not include the many discounts or benefits that UWDC provide, many of which are unique to UWDC.
You see yourself as the forum sooth sayer, your prediction is as wrong as your UWDC Beating Cashback card and you made that up just to try to win a point. Yet you keep coming back with the same misleading statements in order to try to mislead people. How can you honestly expect people to trust anything you say when you just make things up. Your predictability is always your downfall. It's not me or UWDC that is at fault here, it's you. Why do you persist in wasting peoples time. You have been told you are incorrect on this many times before by people who know, yet you still think you know better. Again, it just proves you know nothing and just make it up as you go along. Who exactly do you think you are.

Yet more diversion from Rupert. I see my challenge has been completely ignored AGAIN. Come on, chaps of the AUWF, are you men or mice? Squeak sqeak. Here it is again:
Gas 1620
Leccy 390
Monthly club fee (£2.30)
all for £55 this month. Come on, Rupert, at least have a go.
PS And while we are at it, can we get a definitive answer as to the cashback card you have used in the past and the one you are currently using now? If you've never used one (as I've previously suggested) be a man and admit it, eh? More bluffing on this will tell the readers what I've known all along - you're a 'pontificator' as opposed to a 'doer'.Call me Carmine....

Oh, the banter.
Vinny, do you agree that these discounts are available to non-energy UW customers?
As such, they are not discounts off the energy, yes?
As such they should not be taken into account when only comparing energy?
Comparing the whole package is a different question, and seeing as even UW don't attempt this on their own website (instead making up numbers of calls, kWh and mobile phones), it is unlikely that an independent site would - there are very few providors of this type.
Actually the vast majority of UWDC customers take the package of services because it makes more sense to because all the discounts are very worthwhile and gives a very good combined bill that's simpler and of course only on one bill. In fact I don't have one single energy only customer myself because I provide to people what is best for them. Just because other companies do not provide the many unique discounts that UWDC do they get a little jealous. Seeing as you work for british gas but don't state it I guess this gives the reason why you have decided to interject here. There are still many discounts to be had for energy only customers in any case. You also state that the online energy swapping companies are independent, they are not, they derive funding from the energy companies apart from UWDC and are in fact in-direct marketing companies spending many millions on advertising. Because UWDC will not pay any commission to them they will not include the many discounts that UWDC provide. They clearly are not independent companies.
If their situation means a customer cannot derive a saving by transferring to UW then I will be honest and tell them that although I find it very rare for instance if someone has some services provided by their company and they work from home or they are locked into contract with another company on some of their services, I get back to them when they are out of contract period. Obviously UWDC don't lock people into contract and people can move away if they wish to. However, since cost is only part of the picture sometimes people decide they want to be with UWDC anyway even though it may not always be the absolute cheapest overall it has a reputation for quality.

vinnyph,
You really do talk the most misleading rubbish.
You are desperate to discredit comparison website because if you enter the kWh figures of consumption into their website you get accurate results. These show without question that for the vast majority of people UW will appear at the very bottom of that list of tariffs.
You set great store by WHICH magazine. Yet if you go to their own comparison website they, like all the other websites, prove that UW charge hundreds of pounds extra for their gas and electricity - normally around 30% - than the cheapest.
I do not doubt that UWDC do not pay commission directly to these comparison websites - in any case seeing that UW are consistently bottom of the tariffs, nobody in their right minds should switch to UW.
However as has be proven, you can get cashback for switching to UW from these websites. Obviously that commission is provided by an 'Independant' UW distributor.
So the bottom line is that it is undoubtedly true that UW are just about the most expensive provider of gas and electricity in UK - charging £hundreds more - usually around 30% extra.0 -

Now I would just like to mention about previous comments about price increases as I am sure people are aware the prices of all providers went up, our prices are extremely competitive and with the Triple Value Guarantee aswell it reasures myself as a customer and also reassures my friends and family that I recommend to the company.
Now you show me another company that can give me the same amount of savings UW provide with the customer discount plan and the cashback card and all on the one bill.
You show me a better company, I doubt you will be able to!
LOL @ UW's "Triple value guarantee"Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0
