Have to say I do find it a bit rum when a Big 6 employee tries to pin the 'misselling' accusation on UW. You just have to check out this forum on any day of the week to see absolutely appalling misselling going on from the big 6. The latest one involves Scottish Power doorsteppers claiming as they are the sole providors of leccy to that particular neighbourhood (oh really?) their prices are guaranteed to be cheaper. Presumably these people have been trained to within an inch of their lives so what gives?

That is really odd Carmine, I had a npower person at my door this morning (at 8.30!) telling me that from November I would only be able to get my electricity through them! I couldn't believe it, I told them I was with UW, they had never heard of them! I spoke to my neighbour later on and she has switched to them from BG because she believed that they were the only company able to supply the area and she didn't want to be cut off! I am quite disgusted at this behaviour and I have every intention of complaining to npower. I wonder how many people swapped over this morning to npower due to this disgraceful lie. How it gods name do they get away with such selling techniques?

How then can I make an informed decision?
I proffer the tariff booklet to interested parties if I have one with me. Otherwise I write down the location of my sponsored web site and let them look for themselves. Being an idle git, it saves me doing any work and they know I'm not trying to "big up" the company.

I rest my case. If you read this thread you'd be forgiven for believing that UW are the dodgiest energy supplier and all the Big 6 are shining beacons of light, lol. This is THE most discredited industry in the country, UW would have to be incredibly dodgy to stand out from the crowd. But still the miss-selling accusation nonsense continues. Diversionary tactics? No idea but it IS curious....

That's fine. If you don't know (or can't be bothered), say nothing (or find out). If you get things wrong, that can only be bad for the customer.

This thread is about UW. Quite naturally the comments will focus on UW. If you look at any number of threads that focus on any of the big 6 they don't come off too well there.

    eyeballs - anything to declare?

I work for BG and mention it whenever they are involved in the discussion or it could be percieved that my opinions are coloured by this.
When I am commenting as myself I don't make it explicit.

The abusive/fraud comments go both ways (including petty little things like branding anyone who isn't pro-UW as a member of the Anti-UW Faction - leaving no-one the oppurtunity to be neutral.)
As to fraud, Carmine & Jannine have most recently speculated in that direction - not about UW though.

Well once again the diversion tactics have worked and the Big 6 are in the dock.

The issue is that totally incorrect information has been posted on this forum by a UW salesman of over 10 years(?) standing. Much as keggs may not like the new procedure imposed by the UW heirarchy, he has operated under the old system for many years.

The point is that keggs, by his own admission, is absolutely clueless about the products he sells(the VOIP and E7 sagas are just his latest howlers) Yet every mistake(and there are many) is in favour of UW.

In any other organisation if a representative brought the company into disrepute and made it a laughing stock, in the way Keggs does so frequently, they would be sacked or have their licence withdrawn or whatever sanctions UW can impose on their IDs.*

Yet what do we have on this forum, closed ranks from the UW IDs and sympathisers. The best defence Carmine(the lead UW defence counsel) can muster is other companies are as bad.

    * I appreciate UW can't get rid of Carmine for similar howlers; besides he is entertaining these days, MSE's David Brent clone!

I thought you had to declare that you worked for BG everytime you posted though?

Also what allegations have I made regarding fraud?

I do not see many prospective customers, and then only at irregular intervals. It is much safer, as well as easier, for me to give them information to look at and suggest places to start their research so that they know they are making their own informed decisions as to whether to buy or not. I detest hard sell and therefore refuse to try it myself. After I retired, I had a go at flogging Everest stuff but they had the same "sign up on the day or lose the deal" thing as the cheaper companies, so after I sold my wife everything for the bungalow at the lowest price I could manage, I sacked them. I just dabble with Utility Warehouse as I get more than enough to live on from my pension and pay from the day job. I accept that Utility Warehouse will not be right for everybody but I also know that in the right circumstances, a lot of people will get a great deal. They are the ones I am looking for. I also know that people's circumstances change over time and I ask their permission to contact them every six months or so. Even if a person does not buy, I usually get a cup of tea and a chat. Some of the people I have met have been fascinating, like Mr Jones who was actually a Polish WW2 veteran with a story he should have had made into a book and film.

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

Which I stand by, as does my neighbour. Its not an allegation, its a fact which happened this morning. Also do npower own UW now? I would complain about any energy comapny (UW included) who wil stand on my door step and tell complete lies just to get a sale.
