Genuine brewed to the German purity law lager in Lidl at 50P per can.
I don't really do lager. Lidl have had some real ales at £1 for 500ml, but I tried some and they weren't anything special.

How does shopping in Lidl save you money on your gas and electricity anyway?

    Your point is?
That you can get better deals elsewhere than using the UW card at Sainsburys. Seems like you're trying to help me prove it.

I wasn't. Just responded to say how happy I am for you. But can you be happy for those who choose UW instead of faffing about looking for the cheapest or to use your words judiciously use Tesco vouchers.
Not if they keep pretending it's oh so very cheap when it isn't and endlessly going on about it and then when you point out it's actually very expensive in a way they can't get around with their confusion marketing they go "Oh well I didn't care how cheap it was anyway, I just like it" and then two pages later they're back onto how cheap it is in every possible way when it's quite clear even the cashback card has its limitations.

This is a moneysaving website. You're not going to get very far calling me "cheap". There are far cheaper people to be found on these forums. But I don't think they use UW.

If you want cheap faff about and search for the best deal every day. Personally, it would only serve to give me a headache.

If you want value then UW can help. I said can, not will. It all depends on what it is you are looking for. IDs have never said UW provide the cheapest on anything. That's isn't the point of the club.

Yet another demonstration of going round in circles saying the same things over and over and over again. But it still doesn't seem to sink in.

    It's very tiresome now.

Loyalty discounts should be discounts for the loyal, not incentives to get new customers to sign up.
It's not a discount as such is it? It is a bonus to attract new customers. As an existing customer, I already pay less for my utilities than with any other company and am happy with my decision to be with Utility Warehouse. There is no penalty for leaving and that is the difference. Most companies have a stick to keep people for a year and not the carrot as Utility Warehouse has.

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

It doesn't but a deal's a deal. I lived in Germany six years and even organised the proverbial to Herforder brewery to prove I can do it.

I buy where *I* want to in order to get the best deal for my wants. That's why I get my utilities from Utility Warehouse, quite a bit of shopping in Sainsbury's, some from Aldi and some from Lidl. Obviously my choices will not suit you and you will have your own suppliers. However, there are a lot of people out there who will like to do things roughly the same as I do and benefit from Utility Warehouse.

TBH, mech, this is total nonsense and I would hope you know it (you seem like an intelligent person). It's always stressed on here by the pro-UW crowd that UW isn't for everybody and if you want the cheapest deal you have to match the retail spend criteria for the cashback card. Where has anybody claimed it is cheapest in every possible way?

Had a call from BG last night, Iasked him the unit price for electricity. First 200 units are at 19.6 p (to hide the £12.50 service charge), over that, its 13.4 p, with night rate being a flat 5p/unit. He claimed to be cheaper than my current supplier. I told him I pay 11.35p/unit dayrate & 3.5p/unit nights. His reply?
    'Oh, another UW customer'.

The website, or my PC, was playing up last night so a re-post!

Somebody comes on and posts the above quote in praise of UW and 'knocking' BG and immediately gets thanked by a couple of UW IDs.

Now as far as I can see the post is total and utter rubbish. However not a UW salesman sees fit to comment - two merely add thanks and hope the incorrect message influences a potential customer.

Imagine if somebody posted incorrect information about BG prices being much cheaper than they actually are, the UW brigade would have a field day.

Would any UW rep/shareholder care to comment on patman99's post?

    P.S.
It did occur to me that the comment "Oh! another UW customer" was an expression of sympathy and an acceptance that any rational explanation of UW's very high gas and electricity prices would be futile.

Regarding BG gas prices and uw, part of the worthless guarantee is that uw will always be cheaper than BG for gas.

Over on the "secret" uw reps forum, it turns out that uw has extra "secret" clauses can be brought in should the worthless guarantee still fail despite the catch all small print designed to ensure it's worthless.

A rep wanted to sign up a customer who (despite what the guarantee said) was getting his gas cheaper via BG.

The disgruntled rep (unhappy at the prospect of losing all his commission etc for being unable to sign the customer up) contacted the uw HO to point out the situation.

The uw HO weaseled out of it by putting a new slant on the guarantee, now saying the guarantee has to be explained as only being effective over a 12 month period (even though its wording says UW is always cheaper than BG!), and telling the rep to use this new explanation of the worthless guarantee.

The unhappy rep published the UW email for all to see:
    Thanks for your email.

The Triple Value Guarantee (TVG) still applies.

However, it only applies when compared with a like for like direct debit tariff and does not allow for any duel fuel discounts, non standard or internet tariffs.

If compared with a like for like tariff the Guarantee applies over a period of a year. It is possible at any given point within that year that the companies covered by the TVG may be cheaper. We monitor our prices against their prices to ensure that over the course of a year the customer would pay less with us than with those companies.

I hope this clarifies how the TVG operates and should be interpreted or explained.
