regardless of Jim's deal, according to energy helpline the cheapest tarrif with paper billing (as I'm registered self employed and working from home, I like to keep an in house file) for standard usage in my region (eastern) would apparently be £212 cheaper than UW. I've already smashed that and haven't even started xmas shopping yet.

You could take my energy deal, then take only phone and broadband with UW. Subject to relevant spend on the UW discount card, you could have these services for free, and even make a profit.
Unless you spend 9-5 endlessly ring 0870/0845 numbers, possibly a few calls to Papua New Guinea (like a well know MSE member;)). There is no need to take UW energy simply to qualify for free call package. UW must have 300,000 unique customers.....0 -
Hi guys my daily visit, I see we are all on form!! thought for the day "keep on doing what youve always done and you will always get what youve always got"
have a great day Andy

hi jimexbox have I ever said uw energy is the cheapest for energy? So many of you miss the USP of UW and that is being able to get everything on one bill with fantastic overall value. UW is not just an energy supplier ,it is so much more. The company has been growing over the last 10 years or so and will continue to do so.Which will be fantastic for certain people on here because for a long time to come they will be able to spend their days on here running around with their boxers on their heads shouting"uw energys not the cheapest"

Since I've been a member of UW, the 'cheapest' deal has changed more times than I can keep track of. I suppose I could keep a spreadsheet of all the tarrifs (including any exit fees/cancellable discounts) and then switch supplier endlessly in the eternal, futile quest for the cheapest deal. Or I could carry on as I am, getting a damn good deal without all the hassle.
Not sure what papua new guinea has to do with anything, but my wife and I do make daytime calls, including calls to uk landlines (free), germany (free), israel (free) and croatia (4.9p/min). I won't bother working out how much extra I save on these calls from having UW energy as I think I've already demonstrated sufficient savings to make my point.

incidentally, does anybody here know if existing customers on one of the numbered tarrifs (eg websaver 6, sign online 16 etc) from the big 6 automatically get transferred to the latest version, or do they have to keep a constant eye on the tarrifs themselves and request a change if appropriate?

No chance, the punter has to specifically request to be put on the new tariff (if they know about it, of course). This is what I just don't get - the members of the AUWF are all Big 6 customers but make out that UW are the dodgiest energy supplier. Talking of BGs websaver, the new ones (websaver 3 & 4) have a £60 cancellation fee EVEN IF YOU CHANGE TO THE NEW WEBSAVER TARIFF THAT WILL BE ALONG SHORTLY! I mean, how ridiculous is that?
Then of course we have Eon with their never-ending exit fee and Scottish Power with their current scheme to make punters on their just ended online tariff opt out of going onto a new fixed tariff with an exit fee (that I believe Ofgem are currently assessing the legality of). You just couldn't make it up.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

We know uw reps are encouraged not to bother with product knowledge and are urged to keep it simple. (And have seen it in practice at the gullible spanish teachers lovely place). But you know the answer to this question.
You look to be suggesting it would be much better to sign up to your worthless guarantee and pay constantly for just about the most expensive energy!0 -
good for you! I generated £58 cashback last month using my suppliers cashback card, how about you?

Plus I've just worked out that I've been getting an average of 7.9% off my weekly shop over the past year by judicious use of Tesco coupons. I didn't even have to use any points on Clubcard deals at 4 times the face value to get that. Mostly that's "£x off a £xx spend" ones.
I'm still not tempted to switch to the dearer Sainsburys. My local Sainsburys doesn't even stock the 4p curry sauce, I checked.0 -

Pffft! You're a joke!
Decado asks a perfectly reasonable question, the answer to which would benefit us all on here and you disregard it and use it as an opportunity to bash UW again...is this an example of your altruistic tendencies?Utility Warehouse Distributor/Professional Network Marketer0
