Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Hmm. This is now really taking the pi**. I have sent my query to the Energy Ombudsman who have found the case in my favour and the Utility Warehouse have been told to supply a correct rather than an amended bill. Just arrived home from work now and had a message left on my answering machine from a debt collection company as the Utility Warehouse has passed my case onto them!!! Just spoken to the Energy Ombudsman and they are awaiting a response from the Utility Warehouse!
I think the phrase the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing springs to mind0 -
If you're wondering how the cashback card (with my own household usage*) stacks up against jim's 'cheapest deal' - apparently £257 cheaper than UW for his usage, whatever that may be....
Total Cashback Jan-Sep 09 = £224
Total Card Charges Jan-Sep 09 = £18.59
Overall discount so far = £205.53
A quick browse through last months usage in the card transaction log shows I should get at least £37 next month (minus £1.70 fees) bringing the overall total to £240.83
Anyone like to bet against my christmas shopping over the next two months smashing the £17 target to beat Jim's deal?
This of course doesn't include the fact that my phone/internet costs are around half what they were with my previous supplier, nor does it include any savings made with the member discount directory.
Of course, as a distributor I do not use the family&friends recommendation discount, but if I did my savings would be even higher still.
UW Distributor
*My household = 2 adults + 1 baby. Larger families are likely to generate more cashback by spending more in the appropriate stores. Smaller families may generate less.“Things that I felt absolutely sure of but a few years ago, I do not believe now. This thought makes me see more clearly how foolish it would be to expect all men to agree with me.” - Jim Rohn0 -

It shouldn't be too long bfore a uw rep/supporter comes on to demand you "prove" this!
The saga is outlined here:

regardless of Jim's deal, according to energy helpline the cheapest tarrif with paper billing (as I'm registered self employed and working from home, I like to keep an in house file) for standard usage in my region (eastern) would apparently be £212 cheaper than UW. I've already smashed that and haven't even started xmas shopping yet.

A little cynical there Quentin, even UW don't claim to be perfect. I believe the customer survey a while came up with 94% of customers stating they would recommend UW to family and friends. Obviously this means that there was 6% that wouldn't.
I can't speak for other distributors, or UW but Dave has my Sympathies and best wishes for a satisfactory final resolution.

Why not buy your energy at the cheapest rate?
You seem to be a "busy fool", buying expensive energy then having to spend money via the risky card to get the shopping discount just to lower your energy prices0 -

more insults from the venemous Quentin!
Obviously if i didn't get energy from UW I would also no longer need to eat, wear clothes, put diesel in my car....

I'm actually disappointed that Martin doesn't highlight the UW deal, at least for people who are regular Sainsburys shoppers, as it can prove absolutely unbeatable and he is the moneysaving expert after all. It's not as if Martin doesn't rate Sainsburys basics, either, as the products featured exclusively in the Tonight special he did that taught a high-spending brand snobbery family to downsize on their grocery shopping by a massive amount. I realise UW has become a bit of a controversial subject on here but I didn't think Martin was too bothered about courting controversy?
Fact of the matter is, for households like mine (and Decado23s and janninews and NigeWicks etc etc) UW IS THE CHEAPEST DEAL ON THE MARKET.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
What was cynical in pointing out uw reps/supporters demand "proof" all the time on here?
Talking of 'proof', you got the link for that cashback card yet, Q? Or are we just going to get the link to the Spanish teachers AGAIN? I admit, if I sort of know someone is making a claim that is absolute rot, then, yes, I will ask for proof. You wouldn't?Call me Carmine....
