Why are UW 19% more expensive than mu current tariff?
You have not provided your current gas and electricity usage, current provider and tariff yet.

This forum has regularly been visited by uw reps to give false and misleading info regarding uw's prices etc.
And, it has regualarly been visited by others giving false and misleading information about cashback cards and independent distributors getting a discount on their utilities from Utility Warehouse.

we gave UW our meter readings. After about 4 weeks (and after I had started the process of switching back to npower) we received a letter saying that our electricity meter reading of 17427 had not been accepted by our previous supplier or R.P.E.S., and they would apply a deemed reading of 17123.
Was the meter read when you changed from npower to Utility Warehouse? Do you have a record of it? Did you give your new company readings on the date you swapped? I'm asking as I am a bit confused at present.

There is no point discussing Skype - this is not what the Internet Phone line is. It does not use VOIP. If people prefer Skype so be it. The IPL is completely different. I mentioned Skype simply for that reason - to tell people it wasn't the same or similar. It is a normal phone line that just happens to ues a Broadband connection.

    Understand now

    Keggs,

The UW internet phone uses the internet for transmission of the data, and that data is speech.

Like the BT Broadband phone, the UW internet phone is not a 'normal phone line'

VOIP is the generic name for transmission of speech that uses the internet.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_over_Internet_Protocol

I have seen the claims that contend that the UW internet phone is not VOIP, because VOIP is only if the software is on the computer.

That is the usual UW rubbish, designed to create the impression that UW's internet phone is different and better.

BT's Broadband talk works in exactly the same way - the phone plugs into the router via an adapter(or the adapter is built in with the BT hub) and doesn't need a computer.

That is VOIP - BT refer to it as their VOIP system.

You can have a Skype phone so that it plugs directly into any available router and doesn't need a computer.

So the UW phone, the BT phone, and Skype all use VOIP

The UW IPL phone is not "completely different" it uses VOIP.

    Now do you 'understand now"

Or do I need to give a simpler explanation?

    If you mean this:-
    " Estimated gas 2009-2010 - 27670kWh

    Estimated electricity 2009-2010 - 4880kWh"

Are they your actual numbers for a week, month, quarter, year, whatever, or, are they estimated as it says? Are you with that provider and on that tariff now?

They are annual predicted spend over the 12 months, spring bill too spring bill. They are only a best estimate due to change in circumstances which I've already outlined. Next spring I/Eon will have a better idea how my usage pattern has changed due to changed circumstances. I would advise anyone to do the same to avoid potential nightmare bill.

I've already said Eon Save online tariff

A great deal on a netbook for UW cardholders. Acer with an unusually large (for a netbook, of course) 11.6" display. None of that horrible Vista nonsense, either. XP all the way...

Currently on offer for £249 at Comet. Apply code 3150AW at checkout to get it down to £241.53, go through topcashback for 3.5% cashback (even if you click and collect), taking it down to £233.08. Then pay with your UW card and get a tidy £12.08 off your UW bill (which would have left me with change from my gas charge for last month). Net price effectively £221.
