This forum has regularly been visited by uw reps to give false and misleading info regarding uw's prices etc.

You only have to look at keggs misleading reply today regarding the comparitive costs of uw v bt line rental (to a uw customer and supporter) for an example!

Anyone thinking they will only get the truth by visiting the uw's reps website is truly ideal fodder for the reps!

Suit yourself. Yawn, boring. Heard it all before. Is there an icon yawning

Can someone in the know please comment on this.

A couple of months back, I was persuaded to switch to UW for Gas and Electric (this was a mistake, and I immediately organised a switch back to npower, but on a better tarrif).

However, we gave UW our meter readings. After about 4 weeks (and after I had started the process of switching back to npower) we received a letter saying that our electricity meter reading of 17427 had not been accepted by our previous supplier or R.P.E.S., and they would apply a deemed reading of 17123. Now my husband is a software developer with reasonable eysight, and I reckon he can read a meter OK.

One month later, on the switch back to npower, our meter has been read at 17874, and UW have billed me for £85.

I rang npower to enquire why they thought our first meter reading was wrong, and they know nothing about it, just that UW informed them of the meter reading of 17123.

Now, I reckon that UW have effectively taken payment for 304 units that rightly should go to npower.

I know I have to pay for it, whoever, but this seems like sharp practice on the part of UW.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Instead of avoiding the issue, how do you justify this misleading info you broke your "exile" here to come and post in answer to one of your supporters?

    1. Yes for at least 12 - 18 mths

    2. About £11 if I remember rightly - about £50 more than UW's HomePhone line rental

In fact uw charge more than BT each month, and BT throw in free calls all weekend (and will include free evening calls too subject to a renewable 12 month contract)

I assume that 'supporter' comment is aimed at me! What have ever done to make you think I'm one of Kegg's supporters? Is it just because I'm a UW customer?

Sorry, I didn't mean you supported keggs.

I have got the impression though that you were a supporter of uw?? That was what I meant. If I got that wrong, then I apologise, but your comments have come across as being from a "supporter".

Irrespective, the most important thing for you is that keggs has mislead you about the savings you will have if you use uw for your line rental rather than bt.

An apology from Quentin. That's a first. May long it continues.

How about apologising to Nigewick for libelling him and me for stalking me. Or is that too much to ask

Apology accepted. I am a UW customer, but i'm not a supporter of anybody on here, I'm just trying to work out what best to do now my requirements have changed. I welcome comments and suggestions from anybody, UW supporter or not!

I'm no further forward. It hasn't helped a bit.
I can certainly understand your frustration. Boiling the pros and cons down for you. Utility Warehouse offers gas, electricity, landlines, broadband, mobile phones and Freephone numbers. Their G & E prices are usually not the cheapest one can find. However, they do have a pre payment card that is accepted at Sainsbury's, Boots, Argos and a couple of dozen other stores. 5% of one's spend at these stores (with some restrictions) comes off the utilities bill and this means that many people can pay less for their utilities than with any other company or combination of companies. Some really big spenders completely negate their bill. I think I would have to buy over £2,500 of wine and single malts per month for that to happen. ;)

You need to look at your personal circumstances to decide whether what the company offers is for you or not. It works for Carmine, some others here and myself but not for members who are prepared to switch suppliers on a regular basis and/or do not use the stores serviced by the pre payment card.

I am an Independent Distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

Ah I seem to have stepped into some personal feud.

No matter, I'll take my question elsewhere.

To know of a cashback card that beats the Utility Warehouse pre payment card. Come on Quentin, give us the link to it please.
