I think there has been a bit of a misunderstanding both ways. The person that answered you Quentin may have been thinking you meant the Customer Discount Plan. When customers refer a friend to the company they receive up to 2% maximum discount per customer. If they did receive 2% on every customer they refer then you only need 50 customers to end up paying no bills. It may slightly more than 50 if you take VAT into consideration.

    Hope that helps.

    ps

I do intend being drawn into responding to your ridiculous comments made about me. You can say what you like I know what I said and I know what I mean. And it isn't what you think. You can misinterpret as much as you like but that's par for the course.

Avernger's also right so the figure 50 can be interpreted 2 ways.

For any newcomer to this thread - especially if they want to find information about UW gas and electricity prices - you should be aware that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK.
It is a fact that I pay less to Utility Warehouse for my gas and electricity than I would to any other company. How do you explain that, you know, as you claim their prices are high?

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

So beware what the "happy" customers are saying who post here. They may have a totally separate agenda.
A bit like you claiming to know of a cashback card that beats the Utility Warehouse pre payment card and failing to let anybody know how to get hold of it? Come on Quentin, give us the link to your wonderful cashback card. Please?

Have any of our UW reps ever been approached by doorstep representatives of other suppliers? Did you reveal that you were a UW representative and that you used the Discount Card? What were their reactions?
I have had a few doorstep folk from other companies come to the door over the years and when I have said I am a Telecom Plus/Utility Warehouse customer they give up. I have never had to mention the card, I just ask what their per unit tariff is and that seems to throw them. A bit like asking Jimexbox to post his actual usage, current provider and tariff, asking Quentin to give us a link to his wonderful cashback card and Cardew to explain how I pay less to Utility Warehouse for my gas and electricity than I would to any other company, if you know what I mean.

I was accosted some time ago by a rep from Talk Talk (or Tiscali, can't exactly remember now), in Morrisons, pre Cashback card.

When I said that I was with UW, the chap backed off. Then he told me that he was actually a UW ID and neither he nor his colleague were customers of the company they were representing, as UW gave them a better deal. Eon reps have just walked away when I told them I was with UW as they can't compete.

I had a 'phone call from EDF last week and got the same response.

Are you not supposed to declare you are a UW salesperson?
This is a special area for the discussion of Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus). Unfortunately, it has become the topic for heated debate in the past and detracted from the main gas & electricity discussions. Therefore I would like to keep in restricted to just this discussion.

However due to past experiences some strict rules

    i. All Telecom Plus Distributers must declare it when they post
ii. All workers or those related to other utility companies must declare it
iii. There are to be no abusive comments, accusations of fraud.
iv. Anyone breaking the above rules will be barred first of all from this board, and if they persist from the Chat Forums

I am surprised that Eon reps feel they cannot compete with UW because all of the Big 6 have gas and electricity that is much much cheaper than anything UW has to offer.

Bigger and better? You're not planning to get potential customers drunk? The contract may not be legally binding if the signatory was inebriated.
Not the most sophisticated of questioning techniques. You fail to mention money saving and that is what this site is all about. I pay less to Utility Warehouse for my utilities than I would to any other combination of companies. One would not need to get a prospective customer drunk to show them how their actual usage, current supplier and tariff measured up against what they would pay with Utility Warehouse. This is obviously using their actual numbers and not an average used by others. I was in the pub after work today and mentioned how I save money to a work colleague. He said "That sounds brilliant." I told him that I would get him the tariffs etc so that he could see if he would save money too. I may or may not get another customer, but, he will know that I am not trying to rip him off because he already knows that it may not be right for him and that I am OK with whatever he decides. Either way, there is a possibility that he will tell others that there may be a way to save some cash and there is no pressure from the "salesman." This way I keep a friend and may just get one or more customers with virtually no effort on my part. He even bought me a beer!
I expect Quentin would say this is Big Al's "mind control" at work.

OTOH, I am not surprised, as you can not tell us how it is that I pay less to Utility Warehouse for my gas and electricity than I would to any other company. If you, a self promoted expert, can not manage it, how do you expect a poor rep from one of the Big 6 to do it?

hello everyone glad to see UW still creates so much interest, hey fellow distributors its pay day again!!!! The fact that I am going to receive my residual income again means my customers are happy and staying with the UW. oooooh top customer satisfaction AGAIN in that "consumer" mag. but I am sure the anti UW grumps will find a reason why that stands for nothing. bless em.

Point 1. We do not work for the Utility Warehouse. UW and IDs are business partners. We are required to sign an Ofgem document about mis selling and we are required to have an ID card to show people (ie people we do not normally come in contact with - not friends). You are making the usual mistake of equating us with Eon, BG salesamen and women who get sacked. UW can't sack us because we don't work for them. Can I repeat - we do not work for the UW - we are independent distributors who run our own businesses.

Glad I got that over. But I don't think it will sink into your or your colleagues heads.

Point 2. If that is the case explain why Carmine, Nigewick, me, Maz, Janinewnew get a better deal and pay less for their energy that BG, etc. Kindly explain why all theese big 6 reps say what they do say. I have it said to me as well over the years.

You don't read what people say do you Cardew or more likely you do not want to accept what anyone who is a customer of UW says because it doesn't fit into your fantasy world.
