For any newcomer to this thread - especially if they want to find information about UW gas and electricity prices - you should be aware that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK.
Don't just take my word for it - check on any of the comparison websites recommended by Martin.
From an earlier post. These are the costs for someone with an average UK consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricty living in the East Midlands.
If you wish to pay quarterly, the cheapest dual fuel would be £1060.
UW's cheapest tariff is their high user which will cost £1299 i.e. £239 more expensive.
Should you wish to pay by DD the difference a is £234. The cheapest being £949 and UW at £1183
So by DD, UW is 24.6% more expensive.

For any newcomer to the thread you should be aware that although UW's 'bare' energy prices may not be the cheapest, (indeed they don't claim to be), it must be pointed out that by becoming a Club Member and using different combinations of many of the other services UW offers if you are in a position to, it has been proven that you can lower your TOTAL utility bill spend significantly below the 'best prices' offered by our competitors. Some customers have even reduced their monthly bill to zero - and I don't think you can get cheaper than that. There are several happy customers who post regularly on this thread.
Superior customer service, consistently recognised 'Best Buy' in consumer magazines, backed by a UK PLC, and with the convenience of having all your services on one monthly bill.
UW is a Discount Club. If you're only interested in energy, and their rates are higher than what you're currently paying and you're not in a position to take any other services, then STAY WHERE YOU ARE! Do your own research and make your own choices based on what is best FOR YOU.

One of these "happy" customers who regularly posts here is keggs (a rep for uw).
When he posts here he frequently tells us he is a "very happy customer". But being a rep he would say that!
In fact at the uw reps forum he shows an entirely different face.
There, he is so unhappy with uw that his colleagues have urged him not to post about it there, for fear his negativism will be picked up and used at "uw bashing forums".
He tells his uw rep colleagues the UW situation with energy is a "fiasco" and that it is a "poorer" product and says he no longer even mentions the worthless uw guarantee when talking to prospective club members. He even says it seems "invalid" as he doesn't see uw honouring it!
He also posts of a rep resigning due to the UW "not lying, but not telling the whole truth".
So beware what the "happy" customers are saying who post here. They may have a totally separate agenda.0 -

Could you explain to the new reader how come I am paying the same 'net' rate tariff with UW as you are with BGs Price protection April 2010? You have been paying this FIXED rate tariff for over 4 years and I have been with UW for just 2 months. Gas and electricity prices have risen as much as 80% since 2005 (when you first started your fixed rate BG deal), so how come I'm paying the same as you now, i.e. 4 and a half year's later?Call me Carmine....

Pick and choose what posts you want to reply to my friend. I see that you have neglected to admit you're WRONG about UW and the business opportunity...it's in no-ones interests to post misleading information on this forum yet you do it and when it is pointed out you have misunderstood you can't even admit it or apologise. Weak and sad.
Try it, it doesn't hurt. I am strangely honoured that you choose to acknowledge any of my questions that I put to you - we're still waiting for answers to the 3 I posted back in early August and now you choose to notacknowledge your mistake here too...I'm not sure how much longer you can be taken seriously on here. You post like you're the font of all knowledge on UW and try to undermine any pro-UW argument but when corrected and confronted with THE TRUTH you can't even bring yourself to hold your hands up and admit you made a mistake or misinterpreted something.Utility Warehouse Distributor/Professional Network Marketer0 -
Have any of our UW reps ever been approached by doorstep representatives of other suppliers? Did you reveal that you were a UW representative and that you used the Discount Card? What were their reactions?
I was in Sainsburys last week and was approached by a Sainsburys/EDF guy. He asked if I was happy paying high utility bills and I said mine weren't too bad actually. When I told him I was with UW he asked if I had phone and BB and when I replied that I had he said, 'I can't help you then'. It's nice when someone admits they are wrong (isn't it Quentin?)Utility Warehouse Distributor/Professional Network Marketer0 -

I got button-holed a couple of weeks ago by an SP rep in Morrisons. I saw him coming but thought I'd have a bit of fun.
'Hello, sir, would you like discount on your gas and electricity?'
'I genuinely don't think your discount could match what I'm currently receiving, mate'
'Oh, really, which company are you with?'
'Utility Warehouse and we generally shop at Sainsburys' Left it at that thinking he would ask what the significance of what i'd said was. But he surprised me, frankly.
Rep comes closer and whispers:
'I'm with them as well. Fantastic deal if you use the cashback card, isn't it?'
:eek::eek: Regains composure...
'Why are you advertising SP then?'
'This is my job'

I had a Scottish Power guy knock at my door, around May time I guess. He referred to me as an ex-customer, which was correct, but i'd been with Atlantic Electric & Gas since SP. He asked who I was with, and when I told him his face dropped and his enthuiasm was visibly dampened. He asked me if I had the money back card and when I said yes he just walked away, saying he couldn't do anything for me. This has only happened to me once, so I can't say if it applies to other companies, or in other areas of the country, but it was mentally noted in the + column and convinced me that the choice had been a good one on my part.
Heh, my wife, my parents and I have all had similar conversations with sales reps from other energy & telephony companies. Nice additional hidden benefit for UW members - big 6 doorknockers tend to leave you alone

Hence, the business is not about gathering tons of customers per distributor, it's about gathering a few customers each and teaching each member of your team to do the same thing. etc., etc. Growth then becomes huge as each level reach their own simple, modest targets.
Happy days.
Bang on. Quentin brought this point up to try and denigrate the business model and imply that success was out of 'ordinary folks' reach, but he actually (and I'm sure inadvertantly) showed that it's not - it's exactly how you describe above, which is well within the ability of most people. You will get some superstars in your team who will go and gather many more than the average, and some that do less - that's the nature of it, and they go at their own speed because thats how it suits them.
Good luck.

Very quiet here today...mind you it's Friday, so there may be more activity later on once people have had a chance to 'lubricate'. I know I'm looking forward to having a beer, it's been a busy week since the enhancements announced last weekend.
