  • morning all hope we all had a great weekend!! glad to see uw is still getting lots of attention here. Customer base rocketed. People look at the overall package we offer and for that we have no competition!! absolutely none!!! and remember we have no minimum contract with our energy services so people can change very easily if they want to. The business is booming ,and thats because more and more are joining the uw, and staying with us,to reap the many benefits.
So join the uw if you wish, and dont if thats your choice. I have to smile at all the silly bickering that goes on here!
    have a great day

Cardew, if you have a phone line in that LUA of yours, UW is now cheaper over the next 12 months than the BG fixed deal you've been paying for the last 4 years. Tempted? :p By my calculations it would cost you a net £74 for 12 months. And no cashback card required...

    Thank you for this post.

I assume you are taking into account the one off £100 discount after 12 months?

However no phone line in the annex.

I don't need one as my wireless BT package includes an internet phone and this works in that building.

As a matter of interest do you know how much extra per month UW charge for wireless internet and an internet phone as a second line?
  • Hi cardew, £50 for max of 2 internet lines then £2 per month for each line(you can of course just have 1) then calls charged at uw rates or free depending on the amount of services you have(land lines and 10 global destination) no software or computer switch on required and you can take it anywhere in the world to use(access to router plug in required)

Personally, I use the cashback card quite a lot. I use it to pay for shopping and petrol. Last month my bill for Gas/Electric/Phone was £18 as I had £40 cashback. Most months will yield a similar cashback figure, so I'll save £480 over the year, on a yearly spend of £900-£1000 for energy.

I don't think that can be beaten.

Why don't you use your discount to obtain free phone and broadband, possibly making a profit. Then choose a far cheaper online tariff from one of the big 6?

Give it a rest Jimexbox. You are beginning to make yourself look as silly as your friend Quentin.

Its perfectly reasonable question. I just want to make sure the carmines dad is fully aware that the dubious £100 discount is for the 1st year only. Existing UW customers are being taken for granted, such a slap in the face for all their hard word (using the discount card) over the year.

When I became a UW customer, the guy who came to see me advised me to stay where I was for certain services, because it wouldn't save me any money. Those services were broadband and mobile phone. Because he did that, I respected his integrity as a distributor. Sure, not all distributors would have that integrity, but the one I dealt with had, so I was happy dealing with him.

    Hi rael

The problem as I see it with the AUWF is that they perceive UW as one thing a- a gas and electric company. They don't seem to 'get' it or more likely want to 'get' it that we are a club offering a whole range of services. Individually these services may be beaten by other companies. I say maybe, repeat maybe. But in the grand schemne of things whether they can or cannot isn't relevant. Potential members are not stupid or gullible as these people would like everyone visiting this site to believe. In fact that's an insult. People today are discerning. And if they feel UW will benefit them they will join. If not they won't.

But UW is more just a company. We are a sort of family. We help each other out when needed. Does Jimexbox et al really believe that Eon, Ebbico and the rest of the mob give any thought to their customers. They are seen purely as a cash cow. UW gives its members a great service all round. Yes, there will be some that become disappointed. But that's life. You can't please everyone all the time. And UW isn't in the business of doing that. It's in the business by offering people something completely different. If you don't like it then you are free not to participate. But with the club growing at a tremendous rate now more and more people are realising the benefits.

There will always be people like Jimexbox, Quentin, Cardew and others who I can't remember but they are fast losing ground. They have lost the arguments completely - they keep repeating the same old rubbish in the hope that people will fall for it but they won't. The UW is here to stay whatever they think for a very long time. And many more customers are becoming distributors or at least getting discount off their bills for telling their friends.

The AUWF will no doubt do their best to attack you, me and anyone else who benefits from what UW offers but in the end they are the losers.

Another keggs classic. So UW are just a big wholesome family that is purely there to provide for their extended family. Honestly mate, I feel nauseous reading such nonsense. UW exist to make money, end of story.

Maybe they should change their name, 'The Waltons Warehouse'

    1) No phone line in the annex? Crikey.

    2) Actually, I do. As I have said before, if we hadn't sold our place in Spain it would have been an absolute no-brainer. That way we could have continued calling our friends and the calls would be included in our inclusive 24/7 package. Also our friends could call us in Spain for the same price as calling us in the UK, I believe. It's something for the future for us.

PS I think you're getting confused regarding 'wireless internet' :rotfl: Paying £19.99 doesn't stop you having wireless internet, you would just use your existing wireless router as opposed to the fixed one UW provide. I really don't think it's advisable of you to get into a debate regarding phone/broadband/calls packages given that we know who you use, btw, but if you must...

An Internet Phone Line is just like a normal phone line in every way, except that it works through a broadband connection.

There's no engineer visit involved, no software to install, no extra hassle - just a little adaptor that you plug into your broadband router, and you're away!

It costs just £2 per month per line. You can have two extra lines if you like (you must decide when you sign up - we can not add an extra line later). Connection costs a one-off £50 whether you choose one line or two. This is much cheaper than a standard phone line from BT!

You can plug the adaptor into any broadband connection, anywhere in the world, and it works exactly as if you were at home - including the number (no international codes needed) and the cost of the calls (Home Phone Tariff and "Free Global Calls" apply as if you were in the UK)!

Calls are charged on our Home Phone tariff - and you benefit from our "Free Global Calls" in the usual way.

    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??

So what if it is for just 12 months. Are you saying that Carmine's dad shouldn't have the opportunity of getting an extra £100 on top of everything else he could save just because it's only for 12 months.

As for existing customers. Yes, it would have been nice to have been given something. But we get a lot anyway. So can't see your point. If you are so concerned about us poor customers why not join and express your opinion formally as I can do. You never know - they might just listen to you. The company do listen by the way. Another sharp contrast to your own wonderful company.

You remind me of someone I read about in a true story. I'll tell you about it. A lady was wheelchair bound because she was told by her doctor that she wouldn't walk again. A friend told her about a new treatment which could help her. The lady decided to try it out. It worked. Over time her health improved - she even started walking. She eventually decided to start her own business.

However, she was also a devout church goer but a so called church friend told her making money was evil. At the same time her doctor told her that the treatment she was using wouldn't help in the long term. These 2 dream stealers eventually got their way. The lady ended up back in a wheel chair living a life of desperation once again.

Think about this story Jimexbox then go and tell Carmine's dad he is a fool for joining the UW because they only give him £100 back after he's been a member for one year.

If you really thought about what you say on this forum you will realise what rubbish you spout along with the rest of your friends.

I agree that for some, UW will not work out cheaper....... But to suggest that it applies to everyone we ever meet (which is your implication) is to put it mildly misleading which is par for the course with you Quentin.

You again accuse me of making a misleading post.

    Please show me where?

You always tell us here how happy you are as a customer, yet on your uw reps forum you display the opposite - being so openly negative and concerned that your colleagues urge you not to go public, but deal one to one with your HO, and when this is pointed out here you tell us this is because one of the "traditional" rules of pyramid type operations is you must not be seen to be negative.

Happy clappy (or misleading) comes to mind.
