Here's a tip for you carmine.

What about someone with this annual usage. Take any region in country

    economy 7 electricity

    day time 1000KWh
    night time 9000KWh

    gas

    2000KWh

For instance someone who uses gas only to cook and has efficient economy 7 electric storage radiators together with an efficient night time electric boiler and tank for heating water for washing. The house fully insulated with double glazing, cavity wall insulation so as not to waste any heat.

An electric heater can be near 100% efficient. An old gas boiler can be as low as 50% efficient. A new condensing gas boiler can be up to 90% efficient but only if it is regularly maintained and cleaned but this is expensive because of having to pay a qualified engineer to do it and that type of boiler is expensive in the first place.

Watch television on a laptop charged at night time rates that has a large capacity battery. Use washing machine and dishwasher at night in utility room. Shower during the night time rate hours.

In that usage scenario UW comes out very cheap even taking bare energy without all the other UW discounts. In fact the low user economy 7 dual fuel UW tariff beats all other tariffs in country for the usage shown above. In fact in Midlands region it works out as £603 a year at current rates. Including the £21 membership fee it comes to £625. The next cheapest is £632 on the online commission paid energy switching sites.

It's not unrealistic because I know someone very well who's usage is just like that.

Now that there is the additional £100 discount, it brings the first year down to £525.

If someone was to use the UW cashback card and have an annual spend of £6000 on it that would be £283 saving against their bare energy. So that is now just £241 in first year for energy. A cashback card annual spend of £12820 would give a £625 annual saving.

If someone was to additionally take broadcall at a cost of £240 a year this would give free 24/7 calls to 01/02/03 0845 and 0870 numbers and global calls to 10 countries because of taking 4 services.

The two sides in this thread are so far apart that it's pretty pointless arguing now. They'll never agree, so the slanging match just makes it look a bit juvenile. Oh, by the way ......

My dad's bigger than your dad.

I agree rael. Unless someone posts something worthwhile I can't be bothered now - it's repetitive nonsense. And silly me gets drawn into it time and time again. But I am truly bored with the AUWF they haven't anything else to say. They are predicatble (as are the IDs including me for that matter).

UW has won - the AUWF should just accept it. Perhaps putting them all on the ignore list might kill the thread off.

Really - 90% usage on Economy 7 and just 2,000kWh gas is realistic? I suppose that consumption profile covers about 0.1% of households in UK.

As they shower in the early hours of the morning, I am surprised you don't get them to cook in the early hours.

Don't suppose they will have a fridge or freezer - that uses daytime electricity.

Mind you such a person can still get a better deal than UW if they get get gas from Ebico and electricity from another supplier.(paying by DD)

Of course if they are going to extremes of money saving they might want to pay quarterly and keep the money in the bank earning interest. Then there are many better options than the UW deal you suggested.

Why does this thread exist? Because UW reps forced MSE hand by constantly creating fake threads with the sole intention of promoting UW.

Rubbish !!! In 2004/2005 you use to get lots of different threads about whether their energy was cheapest with as now two opposing camps arguing the toss .
So MSE decided to have one thread to keep it simple.

Once again your lack of logic is showing!

Nobody from the AUWF is in the slightest bit bothered about the UW apologists reading our posts or not.

The only purpose is to convince any potential UW customer to be aware that UW's gas and electricity prices are just about the highest in UK.

It will be a bonus if current UW customers 'see the light'(appropriate) as well - even if they realise that they were sold UW's gas and electricity by so called friends - even relatives!!!

Is insulting people like this your way to making friends.

What's logic got to with it. It might be a good experiment if you and the other 2 or three detractors were put on the ignore and see what happens. I predict you would be talking to yourselves as would we. What a waste of a good argument.

In reality though you are bothered because then you wouldn't have anyone to sniope at.

Can the Anti-UW brigade tell me the tariffs (in kWh) of the 'cheapest' suppliers please?

It depends on where you live, your consumption in kWh and how you want to pay(DD or quarterly) This is an example I posted yesterday.

The average UK account uses 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity pa

In the East Midlands the cheapest tariff for that customer would cost £949 pa.

With UW it would cost £1,183

So UW is 24.6% more expensive than the cheapest tariff.

Of the tariffs listed in price order, UW is in 63rd position. There are 5 tariffs more expensive and they are all the so called 'Green' tariffs.

If you post your details the anti UW brigade will give you the information you require.

The Ofgem figures don't suit you? Plus everyone can use these figures for their own postcode and see the truth for themselves.
No. It seems to me that you are now deliberately being obtuse. Each individual's figures will be unique and therefore for accurate results these individual numbers need to be used to get the cheapest quotes. Even then, the switching sites may give (I put mine in and got two different answers from two of them) different results for the same set of numbers. This makes me suspect that they put forward companies that pay them most for people they get to switch.

Why not just show us your actual usage figures, supplier and tariff so that we can all see that you are on the best deal for you? I've done it and there was no pain involved.

As previously posted, UW reps using the pm system to get round the forum rules and get business breaks the rules.

But you knew that, so why now boast to us you got away with it?
I was asked for information and could not put the thing in a message on here otherwise I would have done so. I did not tout for business as I had been asked for that information. I was not boasting, just explaining.

How about you posting a link to the Utility Warehouse pre payment card beating cash back card that you have told us about?

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

The point is that as UW members pay on average over £100 more than if they used the cheaper tariffs on offer from the "Big 6"
There you go again, using that word "average." Most of us are not "average" and have different wants and requirements. I pay less for my utilities than I would with any other companies.
