Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Correct. And many people can actually save money by becoming customers of Utility Warehouse, as Carmine's challenge and my figures have shown.
You claim this but have not posted numbers to be verified.
As you might have seen in an earlier post of mine, I have proved with figures that UW would charge 22.5 times as much(that is 2,250%) as I pay for one of my tariffs.
Your constant reference to Carmine’s challenge is as silly as if I claimed that case above was representative.
So if you want some real figures; let me give you mine.
If I were to switch to UW, I would be paying £812 per year more than I have been paying on my current tariff. If I wanted to pay quarterly I would be even more out of pocket.
If I cancelled my current tariff and took the cheapest available tariff available today it would be £469 per year cheaper than the cheapest UW tariff.
If someone in my area – Midlands - with the UK average consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh were to switch today to UW they would be paying £228 more than the cheapest available tariff.
Now those are actual provable figures, want to challenge them?
There is absolutely no question whatsoever that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity in UK, and no amount of obfuscation from vested interests on this thread can hide this provable fact.
Just stick to actual figures in any reply!0 -

Funnily enough, the difference between those 2 figures is about the same as my projected annual cash back from using the UW card. I must have mised it if you've already stated it so apologies in advance if you have..what cash back card do you use on your retail shopping?Call me Carmine....

This is the gas and electricity section of the Utilities forum.
The thread is about UW and their extremely high gas and electricity prices.
Much as you and others would like to move the discussion onto cashcards, it would be more informative for any new readers to stick to actual gas and electricity prices.
Would you care to challenge the figures above stating how much extra UW gas and electricity costs?0 -

So your answer is no, then. You don't use a cash back card for your retail spendingIf I was to adopt your posting style for a second, may I be so bold as to say you are clearly paying too much for your groceries/fuel compared to me. This is of course the gas and electric forum, that is absolutely correct, but as this is the only thread where UW discussion is permitted and taking into account the fact that UW is so much more than merely an energy supplier, then discussion of the various aspects of the UW way of doing business (including the very important cashback card) is surely permissible, if a little embarrassing for you being as you clearly practice the old adage; Do as I say, not as I do.
Ps How can I challenge the figures above (even if I wanted to)? You haven't given your usage figures...
PS You do realise that you are actually paying 4000% more for your gas and electric on the 'little-used annexe' than you should be but choose not to switch? Any reasons for not switching?Call me Carmine....

If it makes you feel better, for the sake of argument let us agree that I am paying more for my groceries and fuel than you are paying.
I am clearly also using far more gas and electricity than you are using - even more electricity than you used before you decided to anticipate a large future reduction in consumption to mitigate UW's high prices in your figures.
As you have pointed out with great glee, I have also bought some badly performing shares and quite a lot of property that you have assumed has been a poor investment. We all are aware your shares in UW have performed very well.(not that being a UW shareholder would influence your stance of course - the very thought!) So for the sake of argument let us accept that you are far wiser and better at investments than I. Sadly I have shares in most of the Big 6.
Your choice of cashcard, and the stores you use, are impeccable.(for the sake of argument of course)
Now shall we talk about gas and electricity prices?
If I give you the exact consumption for the house where I am living at the moment, will you agree to simply discuss my figures without any attempt to divert attention away from the fact that UW are extremely expensive.
Will you promise - really promise?0 -
LOL. But what about the little-used annexe and the £78 per year you could have been saving on that for who knows how long? Are you sarcastically admitting defeat on that one as well? Why don't you switch now? It's never too late, you know.
Cardew, if you try and tell people how to save money, expect your credentials to be questioned. Only problem for you is the questions don't have to be Paxman-like to reveal you are simply not qualified to give such advice. Of course, that doesn't stop you giving it, but one would hope the reader will gleen from your responses that they really must take it with a whole salt mine.
For instance, I would be very surprsied if you have had personal experience of any other utility company other than British Gas and British Telecom. Those choices alone should tell us all we need to know about your judgement...
Ps And that last line is creepily reminiscent of jimexbox (shudders)...Call me Carmine....

5 year warranty? No use and I can get it cheaper! Plus under the SOGAS and also EU Directive 1999/44/EU you have a minimum warranty of 2 years. Your rights are up to 6 years after.
PLUS is it a manufactuers warranty or company? The big stores but as seen that is why I always use dealers they maybe dearer but are cheaper in the long run.0 -

That is quite typical of your modus operandi.
You make completely incorrect assumptions, and based on those incorrect assumptions, question my judgement.
Now do you want to talk about UW's extremely high gas and electricity prices or do you want to try more diversionary tactics? - the ultimate rhetorical question!!!0 -

1. No use?
2. Did you read my post? To be fair, you also claimed you could issue a FOI request on a private company. Mastermind you aint.
Let's have a link to your cheaper (comparable) deal. Talk is cheap. Backing it up on this thread (for detractors) seems awfully expensive.Call me Carmine....
