I don't believe anybody has ever said on this board that UW are the cheapest supplier, we know there not. But we can get a significant discount on our bills by using the discount card, if we shop there anyway surely it makes sense to use the discount card and save money?0

I think it' worth repeating that you can get the cashback card with just UW's much more reasonably priced broadband and telecoms package. So all you really get from the expensive electricity and gas is a bunch of inclusive phone calls. And if you're spending that much time on the phone these days when VoIP and instant messaging etc is available, then you're doing something else wrong.
Why are you doing something wrong if you spend alot of time on the phone?! What gives you the right to say that? I spend alot of time on the phone to my great Aunty who lives in Colchester (she is 83!) can't really see her using instant messaging or VoIP (what is that by the way?) I also chat to my Mum every day on the phone for upwards of an hour. I don't consider myself to be doing anything wrong just because i do things differently to you!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

How do you explain the fact that Carmine gets his utilities from Utility Warehouse because he gets the best deal for his requirements then? .
The explanation is that carmine(like everyone else) pays a lot more for his gas and electricity than he would pay with any of the Big 6.
In fact, if you look very very carefully you will find that Carmine has mentioned that he pays £x hundred(can't remember the exact figure) to UW for his gas and electricity than he would with BG. Naturally that profound admission is well obfuscated.
To minimise the additional amount he would pay with UW he projected that his future consumption would be much less than historically.
In fact if you ask him direct, he might even admit as much.0 -

Whilst we are on the subject of obfuscation, can you confirm where you carry out the majority of your grocery shopping, your fuel shopping and which cash back card you use in order to gain the maximum financial advantage commensurate with your self-appointed money saving guru title? To once again fail to answer these simple questions would, I fear, leave you wide open to to charges of gross hypocrisy (oohh, the very thought).. Do you walk the walk or merely talk the talk?Call me Carmine....

You recently posted that you recently checked and 'UW were in the top 10 for gas and electricity prices'. Had that totally incorrect statement not been challenged, new readers of this thread could be misinformed about the true situation. This was not an incorrect statement! How do you know what information i was seeing on a price comparision site? I never entered my figures (i never said i did though!) so maybe it wasn't the most accurate by they DID appear in the top 10 a few months ago for (they don't at the moment). I'm not very savvy about entering my readings (plus i didn't have my bills handy) so i filled out details of what my spend last year was and details about my house, hours of usuage etc! I resent the fact that you accuse me of lying.
It doesn't matter if you have a vested interest in UW or not - or are simply defending your choice of company - you posted incorrect information and apparently are upset because this was corrected. Prove that i posted incorrect information! The information that you have posted above is incorrect
Ok let us see who is incorrect or not!
You posted this on the 22 July
The last time i went on a price comparision web-site (about 3 weeks ago) UW were in the top 10 for me,
Now you are saying:
I never entered my figures (i never said i did though!)
It would appear that there is a considerable discrepancy between your post of 22 July 2009 and the post above.
How did you get UW to be in the top 10, 3 weeks before 22 July, if you didn't enter your figures?
Is that sufficient proof? After all you have no vested interest have you?
If you are in a hole janninew - stop digging!!!0 -
It was probably after being blinded by the dazzling sight of French & Saunders advertising UW (in a 3 minute ad slot, LOL) on TV. Wait a mo, that can't be right as they only appeared on your TV. I give up.
His modus operandi is to discredit, indeed ridicule, any opposition by researching their posting history.

It is of no relevance whatsoever where I shop, bank, my investments, the paper I read.
The Forum is gas and electricity; the subject is UW and the inescapable fact is that UW gas and electricity prices are amongst the highest available in UK.
It might be of relevance, if I were unwise enough to get my gas and electricity on BG's expensive standard tariff and suggested that this was a wise move. After all that very expensive BG standard tariff is only a little cheaper than UW's best tariff.
It also might be of relevance that I actully pay £797 a year less for my gas and electricity than I would pay with UW. A tariff incidentally that you did your best to rubbish!0
