It seems to me probable that your vested interest is purely that you have been paying over the odds for 7 years and cannot bring yourself to admit the facts.

I'd apologise for this last remark if I was you Cardew.

Janinenew is a customer of the UW and has told you that she likes what she gets and felt she would like to offer her own thoughts. Yet, you attack her for doing so simply because it doesn't fit in with your own twisted agenda (Quentin in disguise?).

She doesn't need advice from the likes of you. She is capable of deciding for herself. Nor does she have to offer up any proof to you or anyone else. Just accept that she has the best deal for her. Even your friend Jomexbox has had the good grace to do that.

Why do you get upset about someone telling people to go to one of the websites that Martin recommends to check that UW have just about the highest prices for gas and electricity in UK.

What, pray, is patronizing about advising them to do exactly as you suggest ie. Research and not listen to the hoards of vested interests that swap this thread.

As for no vested interest, you claimed earlier in this thread that UW:

When challenged to give any detail how you get this remarkable result – you have failed to respond.

Well I have seen nobody produce any result that places UW in a higher position than 50+ position out of 60 or so tariffs.

So why not enlighten us with how UW can appear in the top 10 for yourself?

It seems to me probable that your vested interest is purely that you have been paying over the odds for 7 years and cannot bring yourself to admit the facts.

This will be a cue for the 'gallant' UW reps to spring to your aid. However why don’t you give other money savers the benefit of how you manage to get a comparison website to put UW in the top 10 gas and electricity tariffs.

Just because i have been with a company for several years, does not mean that i have a 'vested' interest in them! I admit that maybe i could find cheaper, but i can make it work for me and i like the monthly billing and the good customer service! I believe that a few years back they were considered to be very competative? I had a rep from BG ask me in Morrisons (a few years ago!) which company i was with, when i told them they told me that they couldn't save me money and stick with them!

I admit i didn't see your request to provide information on my results as i haven't been on this thread for awhile, i have had other things going on in my life to deal with. I have just been on Uswitch and though i haven't got any of my bills handy, i've inputted all the information required and UW came in at number 28. So no not the cheapest by far, but this doesn't take into account the discount i get using my cash back card, so i don't consider it to be accurate! The figure I consider to be accurate is the one on my bill every month, that’s what I compare! I will admit if i didn't shop at Sainsbury's and fill up my car there, then yes i would look at other providers, but i think this company works best for me. I had an awful experience with npower and it has put me off using such a big company again, i like the fact that i have always received excellent customer service from UW and i don't mind paying a bit extra for it!

If you can find me a company that can offer me my telephone, gas, electricty and broadband all on one monthly bill. And a company that will let me pay for my gas and electricity every month in arrears. And a company who will send me one bill with everything one and taken by one direct debit. And a company who lets me save money using a cashback card then i will gladly change company, no questions!

I don't believe that anybody on here as ever said that UW are the cheapest, i know there not, i've just given my honest opinion as a customer! I have no vested interest in promoting UW, I respect your opinion and the fact that you wouldn’t use UW as your supplier and you should respect mine.

Its fine Steve, i won't expect an apology!

All i wanted to do was give my own opinion as a UW customer to people, this clearly isn't wanted on her by some! I don't want to be drawn into an argument, as its really pointless! Its seems on here if you have something positive to say you automatically have a vested interest in UW. I have no such thing, i'm just a happy customer, but then some people don't seem to believe that you can be a happy customer with the UW. I honestly believe most people reading this will see each person and their individual comments for what they are. My comments have all been geniune and based on my own experiences.

    Keggs,

You are simply out of your depth, even by the low standard of contributions to this thread.

I suspected you would try to be 'gallant' - what a pathetic attempt at chivalry!

Can you not appreciate that janninew posted misinformation about the position of UW on the comparison websites?

On second thoughts - I don't expect you can appreciate anything that contains logic.

You should get some lessons from Carmine - he is at least sharp and can turn a poor argument into something plausible. You - well I think you know!!!!

I have simply stated that UW gas and electricity have amongst the very highest prices in UK. That is an absolutely proven fact that you are apparently beginning to appreciate - although I am surprised that UK are as high as 28th on any comparison website and would be interested to see your figures.

Give opinions by all means, but when you post facts that you now accept are wrong, then perhaps it is you who should apologise to the money-savers you have misled!!!

I did not post misinformation!! I posted my results as they appeared. I was quite surprised at the time that they appeared in the top 10 as i know there are not the cheapest. I can't remember which comparision site i used as there seem to be so many about at the moment and i just googled comparision sites and picked one. I really do not appreciate being accused of lying on here as i haven't, i have always been honest and detailed my own experiences.

What facts have i posted that i have now admitted are wrong? When i put my information into a comparsion site a few months ago (don't know exact date!) that was the result i was given! I have never stated that UW are the cheapest, just my own experiences, i have nothing to apologise for! And i have never misled any moneysavers, i have also always said people should be responsible for their own actions and do their own research! If people are daft enough to change suppliers just on my say so then more fool them! I'm just wanting to give my own thoughts on UW.

Though UW reps rely on tapping up friends and family who will instinctively trust their ludicrously worded triple guarantee. This guarantee is used to lull the unsuspecting (trusting family members) that UW offer fantastic prices, when we all know the only tariffs more expensive are Eco 'feel better' ones.

So janninew as a UW customer what do you personally make of their infamous triple guarantee?

Adopting your style of answering a question with a question , what do you personally make of Eon's infamous propensity to post headline reduction figures that bear absolutely no relation to your experience? How did you describe them - treating you, their customer, as a muppet? :p Why single out UW? I'm sure many readers will have read Eon's ridiculous headline and switched to them at the time.

Personally I treat ALL energy supplier's claims/boasts/guarantees, including UWs, with the scepticism they deserve. The bottom line is the price you pay, after all. Although with your apparently massively fluctuating energy consumption (same gas consumption in Summer as Winter, for instance suspect.gif) I realise calculating your current liability would prove, shall we say, 'troublesome' no matter what company you were with.
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??

Carmine, Ive publicity criticised my supplier for their own dubious practices. Will you do likewise?
