I've been away from the UW post for a while but couldn't resist a peek! I see the same old arguments are still going on!

This thread only exists for one reason, namely, UW salesmen pretending to be genuine posters creating fictitious posts to promote their product. It was a decision forced upon MSE by their behaviour, so there is no good moaning about now.

By the way Carmine - just as a matter of interest. Is Quentin as nasty to posters on those other forums he appears to frequent as he is to people here? Is he always as negative?

If he is then it explains a lot.

Quentin is generally OK until his 'authority' is questioned. He doesn't tend to get it questioned as much elswehere as he does on here so that's maybe why he comes across so badly in this thread. His posting style is generally quite aggressive of course (not really got a problem with that, TBH, I'm sure some would accuse me of having a similar style) but I can't ever recall him posting anything vaguely amusing (well, not something he actually intended to be amusing, of course). Having said that, to be fair to him he does tend to know his stuff on subjects like insurance etc. and he definitely has a decent level of intelligence so fair dos there. In that respect I've actually got more 'time' for him than I have for jimexbox. Talk about damning with faint praise, lol.

    Hi

I've been away from the UW post for a while but couldn't resist a peek! I see the same old arguments are still going on!

Now i don't know if i'm just being stupid but i can't see people's problem with UW. I don't recall ever seeing a UW distributor saying to anyone on here that UW is the best and cheapest and you must sign up now! (Maybe i'm wrong about that, but i ain't trawling through all 200+ pages!!) I see the UW distributors telling people to do their own research and make their own mind up. I do see UW distributors telling people about the benefits, but whats wrong with that? Of course there have been spammers, but surely UW aren't the only company that have had spammers on this forum? The anti UW are starting to sound like a broken record - sorry! If i see the Cashback Card being called 'risky' one more time i may scream!! Also i'm getting slightly fed up of the links to UW training sessions, i couldn't really give a hoot what goes on as longs as its legal and saving me money, and most importantly i'm happy with the service i receive. Surely all cards (credit/debit/other cashback cards) carry some element of risk? I wonder how many people out there have lost money using the UW card through no fault of their own? Not many i bet!

I can undertand that UW is not the best deal for everybody, but surely if you already shop at Sainsbury's and fuel up there it must make sense to have a look at UW? If you don't shop at Sainsbury's fair enough, nobody's saying you shoud change your shopping habits, but if you do then the UW is worth a look.

This site is about moneysaving and if people are getting negative bills due to money they would be spending anyway, i don't know how people can say it isn't a good deal!

I am a happy UW customer!

As a fellow customer (unlike you I sadly can't resist getting involved all the time when I see rank hypocrisy on this thread :o) I concur with you 100%. It really is quite bizarre on a money saving site posters poo pooing a deal that for the right demographic is absolutely unbeatable. Quite apart from the financial side, UW offers massive advantages over any of the Big 6 in several ways:

    1. Do any of the Big 6 allow you to pay 1 month in arrears for the exact gas and electric you've used? In other words, effectively paying by variable 'standing order' but not getting financially disadvantaged for choosing to pay this way?

    2. Do any of the Big 6 send you a proper, fully itmised paper bill EVERY month?

    3. Do any of the Big 6 have ALL their call centre staff not only located here in the UK but actually in the same building as the board/senior management?

    4. Can any of the Big 6 consistently get you, if my experience is anything to go by within a matter of seconds, speaking to a human being who can actually sort out your query without transferring you on?

I'm sure there are more but that will do for now.

In summary, by taking advantage of the initiatives they offer, I am paying far less for my utilities with UW than I would with any other supplier. FACT. And, so far, and I accept it's early days for me, the service has been beyond reproach.

Thanks for the input Keggs- so I understand from what you've said that UW don't provide the cashback card as a service in its own right- which is fair enough. :) If it is possible to get the card and zero services, this is an unintentional loophole... but boy wouldn't it be fun trying to get there? :)

More seriously, I can see how this will save me money, even if I weren't required to use UW- so thanks for the inputs, they've been genuinely valuable. This might be the cheapest option I can find for my father as well, which would be ironic. ;)

Carmine, I know quite some posts back you posted your "deal" here, and challenged people to find a cheaper option. Could you post your latest figures? :) (... although I'm sure you can already see where I'm going...)

I completely forgot to mention about the billing system, i have no idea why other companies don't allow you to get billed in this way! We see so many people on here posting about big bills that they've received every 6 months and people who end up owing thousands of pounds due to infrquent bills and estimated readings. I know people can submit their readings and work out their consumption but is the average Joe going to do that? Probably not! I'm so glad that i will have no nasty surprise bills and that some energy company is not going to have my money in their bank for months because i'm in credit! This way of billing is a real asset to the company and i'm sure if people where aware that you could pay for your usuage on a month by month basis that they would get more customers!

    Hi Janinenew

You've just made be think of something. To help me focus on the benfits of UW when talking to people I wrote down a long list of 20. I'd completely forgotten about paying for exact energy usage in arrears. I'm sure you are right about a lot of people being interested in that. I must include it in my list.

Thanks for that as a fellow member as well as distributor.

    Do they?

I recently did a quick calculation for someone. The UW tiple value guaranteed came into its own.

Can we repeat it hear in case you either ignore it or have forgotten "THE UW NEVER SAY THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST ENERGY SUPPLIER. THEY SAY THEY OFFER CHEAPER ENERGY ." But not necessarily for everyone. In my contact's case it came true as it does with lots of other people. She would save even more if she shops using a cashback card.

At least one about you Jimexbox you give us a laugh:rotfl:

I simply dont want monthly bills, its totally unnecessary for the vast majority of people. The large number of threads which ask for help with large unexpected bills are mainly due to the ignorance of the poster. Personally Im sick of people expecting their energy supplier to 'hold their hand'. I mean they/we are adults, we should be able to manage our energy accounts ourselves. Folk moaning about surprisingly large bills after relying on estimated readings get zero sympathy from me.

Its time we all took control of our own energy requirements and billing. And yes, if UW works for you great, Im genuinely glad it does.

The infamous triple guarantee which rules out dual fuel tariffs even though the vast majority of UW customers are dual fuel, and online billing even though your reps push online billing. A paradox even Dr Who would have trouble understanding.

Glad I give you a smile, that's whats life is all about.;)
