Oh a compliment and acceptance that UW works for some people. That's a first. Or has Jimebox had a revelation. Whatever it is, he's broken ranks with the AUWF.

Quentin won't be pleased with you Jimexbox. You've let him down.:rotfl:

I simply dont want monthly bills, its totally unnecessary for the vast majority of people. The large number of threads which ask for help with large unexpected bills are mainly due to the ignorance of the poster. Personally Im sick of people expecting their energy supplier to 'hold their hand'. I mean they/we are adults, we should be able to manage our energy accounts ourselves. Folk moaning about surprisingly large bills after relying on estimated readings get zero sympathy from me.

Its time we all took control of our own energy requirements and billing. And yes, if UW works for you great, Im genuinely glad it does.

I agree that people should take responsibilty for their bills, i never use to and i got in a right mess, now that i do its great, no worries for me!

I don't agree that the vast majority of people would find a monthly bill unnecessary though! Judging by the amount of people we see who get themselves into such a mess on these forums, i think they would definetly benefit as its much easy to control your spending when you receive a bill every month as opposed to every 6 months! I mean i pay for every other service monthly (water, mobile, sky etc) why not utilitiles?

You should get a bill every quarter, 3 months. Also the majority of folk do pay monthly by DD, which if set correctly, will build up a surplus during the summer and have a zero balance come your spring bill.

Don't just blame your energy supplier if its set wrong, we should be checking bills every quarter to make sure there is enough surplus in the account to cover the higher winter usage.

    Not at all.

Ive said all along, if you have all the facts, not just the daft triple guarantee and it works for you. Go right ahead.

Better still every month. But if you're happy doing every 3 months fine. Some of us like monthly billing. That plus the the fact that I get everything on one bill and pay one direct debit is what attracted the UW to me in the first place.

As Janinenew pointed out we are not all like you who has an ability to keep control. Most people can't be bothered. In the 10 years I've been a customer of UW I have never had any cause to complain. I can't say the same when I was with my previous suppliers.

That has to count for something.

Thats fine, i'm pleased you get what works for you, thats how it should be! I just feel that alot more people would benefit if they were offered the chance to pay just for what they use every month! Not everybody is that careful with their bills and i think if your poor at dealing with bills/money a monthly bill is the best way forward! Some people seem to be totally oblivious of bills/estimated actual readings, judging by some of the threads on here!

Also I resent somebody else having my money in their bank for 6 months over the summer for energy i have not used! My gas bill has been a few pounds these last couple of months as my heating hasn't been on, but if i were with another company they would still be taking alot more than that! I am much happier to put a small amount to one side to cover my big winter bills than leave it with a company like BG making them even more profit!

Couldn't agree more. Leaving aside all the tripe that the AUWF keep spouting being able to monitor bills monthly (apart from all services on one bill which is unique) for me and probably a lot of other people in this country is a big plus in my eyes. We aren't all accountancy minded.

Just in case any newcomer is baffled by the last few pages of contributions from those with a strong vested interest in promoting UW, all you really need to know is that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK, and if a a relative/friend tries to tell you otherwise - do not believe them.

If you want confirmation that this is an absolute fact go to any comparison website - see those recommended by Martin on MSE.

    Your quite patronising aren't you?

I have no 'vested' interest in promoting UW at all!! I get nothing out of it! What i have said over the last few pages is my experience as a customer and i'm entitled to tell people! If there are any newcomers to these pages please do the research for yourself and see if you could save any money! Don't just listen to the people on this forum!

Why do you get upset about someone telling people to go to one of the websites that Martin recommends to check that UW have just about the highest prices for gas and electricity in UK.

What, pray, is patronizing about advising them to do exactly as you suggest ie. Research and not listen to the hoards of vested interests that swap this thread.

As for no vested interest, you claimed earlier in this thread that UW:
The last time i went on a price comparision web-site (about 3 weeks ago) UW were in the top 10 for me, so obviously everybody gets different results. So the statement above is obviously personal to you, not everybody is going to get the same results as you, so UW won't always be in 50+ position as stated.
When challenged to give any detail how you get this remarkable result – you have failed to respond.

Well I have seen nobody produce any result that places UW in a higher position than 50+ position out of 60 or so tariffs.

So why not enlighten us with how UW can appear in the top 10 for yourself?

It seems to me probable that your vested interest is purely that you have been paying over the odds for 7 years and cannot bring yourself to admit the facts.

This will be a cue for the 'gallant' UW reps to spring to your aid. However why don’t you give other money savers the benefit of how you manage to get a comparison website to put UW in the top 10 gas and electricity tariffs.
