Is he not manning a stand in Focus paid for by the Utility Warehouse, to attract new customers, and will he not get commission if he signs people up.

So what? Manning a stand at Focus is one of many ways we have to contact people. For your information historically this was an idea by another distributor. In the last couple of years the company have formalised it by making it more professional. Any similarity betwwen us and say Skyor an energy company stand is purely superficial. Most events are run and PAID for by distributors themselves and not by the company. The Focus event is the first time the UW has ever paid for us to do events like this.

As for commission. We do not get a comission for simply talking to people whic seems to be you false implication. WE receive commission in exactly the same way we've always received commission.

I object to you saying i am making false implications

I said " and will he not get commission if he signs people up". I did not imply he gets paid just for talking to people.

Are you not trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes by saying.

"He isn't a saleman in the sense that you or some here would think he is - he is simply someone who is a club member himself and wants to help."

Lets be honest like any other salesperson he is trying to make a sale if he can full stop.

Thanks Steve, the man does live locally to me, and had his own bills there to show me so I believe him to be genuine enough. Its just awkward with the contracts finishing at varying times of year for me. Might be worth hearing him out though.

Your welcome emilyjade. As you say you are in contracts at the moment . Just get the facts and if you feel there will be benefits to you tell him when the contracts end and keep in touch. One of the great things about this business is building friendships. The pensioner I went to see yesterday who I couldn't help is likely to want to help me simply because I didn't pressure him , I didn't sell him. I simply showed him the benfits and as it turned out from the conversation it wasn't worth it. I also insisted that his son be present listen, understansd and protect his interests. That's what we do.

As it turned out his son decided to have a look at the business side for himself. Ironically, his father will benefit more if his son or better still the 2 of them joined the business. His father would begin to develop a pension something he said he never could when working.

This is a great business and I really commend it to you but like I sais before don't listen to anyone but yurself.

Yes I know you did but I felt there was a disapproving tone. I am sorry if my comments offended you but I'm sick and tired now of the constant insinuations made by people who deliberately try and make out that UW and people associated with it are somehow con merchants.

If I see someone standing at a stand in a supermarket or DIY store then I immediately think "Oh he couldnt possibly be a salesman, he must genuinely be here to help out of the goodness of his heart" ;)

Strole on! A UW salesman is just the same as any other salesman in that environment, just the way EDF are in Sainsburys, SSE are in M&S and E-on are with Tescos, they are there to make a gain from it financially, whether that be by commision or some way of getting free gas or electricity (Or even being paid to recieve it? I did notice someone on here posting about "Negative bills" no? whats that if it isnt being paid to recieve gas and electricity?)

The one thing they are NOT doing is being there as a good will gesture.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

No. Not in the way you imply. The company jas built its business on a simple premise - customers recommending the company to other people. The fact that we get pais is what you object to I suspect but as far as I'm concerned what you think of that is of no concern to me.

Everything in life can be called selling from simply saying hello to someone to door knocking with paint brushes. In that respect we are salesmen but you and others (notably Quentin) deliberately try to make it out as if what we do is somehow immoral and we are conmen and conwomen.

    I object to that.

Well do yourself a favour and start making money yourself or is making money wrong in your view?

Perhaps I have good reason to based on the constant assertions and deliberate nastiness in some of the posts by the AUWF. Take Quentin's libellous accusation towards a fellow ID for instance. He's never apologised and I doubt he ever will.

It is also noticeable that his compatriots have never urged him to say sorry. I wonder why?

They are a well run company with just one aim - to provide great value services to its club members.

No. Just like any (every) company, it's aim is to screw customers for profit (see motto of this site on front page).

Unless you allow the ID who spoke to you to have a proper honest chat about the club and all its benefits then and only then can you make an informed judgement as to whether it will benefit you.

I have only one piece of advice to make - either get back to the person who spoke to you (if you have a contact number) or allow the person to pop round for a chat.
You can see how a meeting with a uw rep (not trying to sell you anything!) popping round for a chat at your house would go in this video:
