Knowing how apathetic some of the GBP are, I would imagine there will some distributors with just one customer - themselves! It certainly is a remarkably cheap way of marketing. This company send out 300,000 paper bills each and every month and I'm betting their computer system probably cost a tiny fraction of the HALF A BILLION POUNDS that BG paid for their (non-functioning) system. Very well run company, Big 6 take note. Maybe if the MD of each of the Big 6 was also the largest individual shareholder in the company they would be run on similarly prudent lines.

Since reading all the bad press about them I decided to cancel my application. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

What bad press is that? The detractors here or somewhere else? If elsewhere, would you mind letting us know exactly please.
Maybe it was the famous impartial consumer magazine's surveys that voted UW as Best Buy for gas, elec, broadband, telephony and customer service. Or, maybe it was the Financial Times voting UW(Telecomplus) as 'Company of the Year':D

Who has ever disputed that UW have found a winning formula for making high profits - as the performance of their shares proves.
Since when has the performance on the stock market been an indicator of value for consumers? In fact they are often mutually exclusive!!
UW's success on the stock market is because they have found a niche of using 30,000 people to sell some of the highest priced gas and electricity to unsuspecting friends and family using sales methods that can be questionable at best and at times disgraceful.
The Which survey where 30,000 distributors, friends and family, all with a strong financial vested interest can have the opportunity to vote, is totally meaningless and discredited.
Bear in mind that this survey was on gas and electricity and just about the most expensive product on the market got top marks for value! A joke!0
