As far as I know, other than niche green energy companies, everyone has a social tariff except UW.
Ebico is not part of SSE for starters.
Staying on Utilities do Talk Talk , Virgin Media, Sky have social tariffs.0 -
the prices inc VAT @ 5% for UW for prepayment meters are
Gas
first 2680 units 8.34p per kWh
and thereafter 3.41p per kWH
these are the same in all regions of country
so 20500 units would cost
2680 * 8.34p = £223.51
17820 {20500-2680}* 3.41p = £607.66
total = £831.17
Well I never - a UW rep prepared to discuss UW prices - is this a first?
Just a question. Do you not have to pay a monthly fee to UW on top of those very high prices?0 -

guarantees to be cheaper than BG
you can save more than that by going to BG instead & without taking into account any DF discount.
To be fair if we only look at standard PAYG tariffs, you'd have elecric with BG and gas with Ebico
lol, & I thought BG were the most expensive, duh !
Hey, you are preaching to the converted!!!
It doesn't matter if you have Pre-payment, Quarterly payment or payment by DD, UW have just about the highest prices in UK.0 -
off topic, is anyone watching Top Gear ?
I haven't laughed so hard for ages, that remote control for the stereo ROTFLMAO0 -

If you remember back a few months ago I wrote an long discussion, nigh on a thesis on UW prices in that the price comparison sites misquote UW prices to be higher than they actually are. However I come back months later to find the same people ignoring that and still quoting price comparison site prices for UW that are in fact incorrect. So the mistake is to use the price comparison site prices for UW to make an evaluation.
Because UW do not actually get involved with the billing and the amount is paid directly to energy distribution company then if someone takes only prepayment energy services with UW then I believe UW don't charge a monthly fee. Although since UW don't have many prepayment meter customers it never comes up because distributor are told not to sign prepayment customers because they would be far better on normal meters and UW makes no profit on prepayment. Its the regional energy distribution companies who have lots of prepayment meter customers and in some cases install them if someone falls into bad credit with the company. UW have a different policy, that's why they don't have many prepayment customers.Quentin's Cashback Card?

UW is a direct debit company. Prepay is not a market they want to get into so - they don't go there, unlike other suppliers who are only seemingly too happy to rip people off.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

1. I don't know that, probably because they are NOT part of SSE, that would imply SSE were the 'holding company' and Ebico the subsidiary. They are not, they just allow Ebico to 'resell' their products. Ebico make it entirely clear they are not beholden to shareholders.
2. Where does it state this on Ebico's site? And how do you know that low users of domestic fuel are low income households? My ex business partner lives a hermit-like existence (alone) in a tiny place but in no way would you describe him as 'low income'. Fuel usage is not an accurate barometer of income.

2> Whether it specifically states the concept I don;t know, I haven't visited the site. When launched this was the main objective for the company, one price, no tiers, specifically benefits low income homes. It also benefits low users.0
