Though you defend the indefensible. The UW 'triple guarantee' which is used as a sales tool rather than a genuine guarantee. Their reps even push online billing apparently to save the planet, then exclude online tarriffs from this guarantee. Do you not find this a paradox carmine, even ever so slightly odd?
Ive even proved that anyone only taking their gas and electric with UW would be advised to choose the cheapest online tariff, then shop at Asda. Even after asking you numerous time for your 'independent' opinion as whether you would recommend that in these circumstances you would not recommend UW, you singularly failed to answer my question. These are discrepancies I find hard to reconcile with your claimed impartial stance.
You keep 'claiming' this then accuse me of being a complex individual? :rotfl: And your ridiculous and increasingly desparate leading questions deserve one response; silence.
Why would I recommend ANY utility company to anyone?I don't care who you use, that would be your decision. It's of absolutely no consequence to me whatsoever. UW is definitely the cheapest deal for me. Why this sticks in your craw I really can only speculate on (but won't). And spit it out, jimexbox, stop implying stuff, if you believe I'm a distributor for the company show some backbone and directly state this. Then I will feel justified in making my own accusations, if you catch my drift...

Will you answer my question then? Would you carmine NOT recommended UW to an individual who only takes their gas and electric with UW, and advise shopping at Asda?
As to you accusations, I accuse you of nothing. The 'UW factions' paranoia knows no bounds.0 -

As to you accusations, I accuse you of nothing. The 'UW factions' paranoia knows no bounds. This is bizarre. It's entirely up to the individual where they shop and where they get their utilities from (I know this is a concept that is entirely alien to such a control freak as yourself). The person who wants to join UW I referred to earlier is a long-standing customer of Sainsburys (they live 100 yards from the store!) so in their case it's a no-brainer. But it's still their call whether they join or not.
I've got a question for you now: will you confirm you are officially allowed to make personal calls from work? I don't recall you ever answering that one, either.:pCall me Carmine....

If you use UW and wish to try and making 'alleged' savings, where you shop is certainly not up to you. You have to shop where their discount card is accepted, despite Asda being considerably cheaper than Sainsburys. Now that is the real control, rather than me pointing out the discrepancies in your fabled challenge. Still refusing to aswer my question....
I can confirm that Im allowed to make 'outside' calls on occasion.:rolleyes:0 -
Interesting take on their recent agm.

As I walked away, he started shouting "what the F*** planet do you think you're on man". I just burst out laughing at the irony.0 -

There's a rather large flaw in your 'plan'. Can you spot it?Call me Carmine....

despite Asda being considerably cheaper than Sainsburys.
I seem to recall you making this assertion a little while back, if I recall correctly your basing this on a comparison of prices for a small sample of commonly bought items, if this is not the case then please explain how you have come to this conclusion.
Personally, I couldn't give a rat's bum about the relative prices of products I don't buy, but I was interested to see how my shopping stacks up. As it happens, my wife placed a sainsbury's order recently (I usually shop in person but was not convenient for this week). Since I had a nice exact list of the shopping in the email confirmation, I tapped it all into mysupermarket to see how it stacked up.
I don't have the figures handy on this PC, but results were approximately as follows.
Sainsbury's: approx £128
Ocado: way more expensive.
Tesco: a bit more expensive
Asda: ever so slightly cheaper.
of course, that's just the base price, factor in the 5% discount, monthly card fee and top up fee, sainsbury's came out a bit cheaper.
assuming a similar price difference on the rest of my shopping (usually 2 big shopping trips + numerous quick stops) then I'd estimate my monthly grocery shopping at sainsbury's around £10-£15/month cheaper than if I'd shopped at asda.
Out of curiosity, I also went through the swap and save page and chose all the cheapest options (with no regard to preference or appropriateness). After all the swaps were included the sainsbury's price was by far the cheapest, even before cashback was included.
Of course, price isn't always everything. I certainly consider it relevant that there's a large sainsbury's store positioned handily between my workplace and home - convenient. The closest asda is about 45 mins drive (rush hour) in the wrong direction.
I also purchase diesel and lunches at sainsbury's using the UW card, cashback on these transactions and any non sainsbury's purchases have not been included in any part of the comparison or savings calculations related to this post.
In my circumstances, would you suggest I shop at asda? If so, why?
all of the above information and comparison is specific to my circumstances, other people may find the cashback card less (or more) beneficial. DYOR etc.
I am a UW distributor“Things that I felt absolutely sure of but a few years ago, I do not believe now. This thought makes me see more clearly how foolish it would be to expect all men to agree with me.” - Jim Rohn0 -
The Grocer award is based on just 33 branded items of shopping purchased per week, apparently. But if jimexbox thinks that means that Asda is the cheapest supermarket for all and sundry, who am I to spoil his fun? Of course, in our case as we don't do our whole grocery shop there, then the correct assumption would be that almost half of our £500/mth Sainsburys expenditure is on fossil fuel. Damn, I've inadvertantly revealed the rather large flaw in jimexbox's 'plan' now, lol. Seriously, our discount off the UW bill just relating to fuel will be circa £150 per year. The cheapest online G&E tariff (BG's websaver 3 complete with £60 exit fee) on our usage is £165 cheaper (this includes the full £21 UW club fee, of course, even though we are taking 4 services). Makes you think...Call me Carmine....
