I notice they have now put this savings calculator on their site where you enter basic info, and then they claimed they could save me over £700 some of which was on items i gave them no info on.eg mobiles .

You rather prove my point about twisted logic!
Apart from your denial that you intend to become a UW distributor, do you dispute anything I wrote in the post above?
You attack me and I'll attack you right back, Hugh. What part of this don't you understand? Your annoyance with me stretches way back to the ridiculous claim you made about being 'in profit' on your BG fixed until 2010 deal 'within a year of signing up'. When I eventually forced you to embarrassingly admit this was measured against BGs standard rate and not the Click product they had introduced a few months (or indeed any other company's product except your beloved BG) after you signed up for the fix you really didn't like it, did you? If it wasn't for me you would have happily got away with this totally misleading claim (maybe the others just couldn't be arsed, who knows?)
So much for your alleged dislike of people or companies posting 'misleading info'We've had the same sort of behaviour on here from you, quoting a figure for your BT phone/BB/calls deals that allegedly includes a £5 discount for threatening to leave but of course not mentioning that fact unti it was queried incessantly. If you're entirely honest with yourself (and I'm not expecting that from someone who claimed they'd witnessed Freanch & Saunders advertising UW on their TV 'most nights' :rotfl: ) you've had it in for me ever since you were embarrassed on that thread. Tough.

Broadband & Phone £156 (BS)
Mobile £96 (outrageous BS)
Shopping and Petrol £120 (n/a) I don;t use Sainsburys
gas £44 (BS)
free calls £137 (BS)
elctricity £37 (BS)
so lets compare my actual expenditure, excluding gas and electric
Broadband & Phone & Mobile existing £444
UW
Broadband only up to 8Mb available (I get 10Mb) £384
to get the same minutes and texts, with no internet usage included
£3967, YES that's £3967
so total for Broadband, Phone & Mobile would cost me £3907 more pa with UW.
edit:- I have to pay for 0845 numbers
& I'm sure you can work out what the BS means.0 -

You still persist in trying to discredit me, as you do to everyone else who upsets you. Can you not understand that it does nothing to take forward the subject of this thread - namely UW.
All you are doing is confirming that you took up a pro-UW stance initially because you disliked some contributors who had criticised UW.
Even if your assertions were 100% correct and I am an idiot etc, what has that got to do with UW's high prices and disreputable tactics which is the subject of this thread?
Your unstinted praise for UW, who by any measure have the highest gas and electricity prices and disreputable sales tactics, whilst being caustic in your criticism of every other Utility company can only be because of your vested interest as a shareholder. You cannot possible even pretend that your praise of UW is in any way objective.
So I ask again, was anything I said above incorrect?0 -
You could save:
broadband & phone £156
mobiles £96
shopping & petrol £120
gas £44
free calls £137
electricity £27
£580
Please note: the Utility Warehouse is a Discount Club. Membership costs from £1.73/month (inc VAT), which is added to your monthly bill. This figure is not included in the calculation above. How we calculated your savings
No such luck for me then, only £ 580.
As Keith Barratt would say 'Its just a bit of fun'That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
penrhyn, kippem - you both seems to have the same numbers, but it adds up to different savings.
(edit, spotted the £10 difference, but the overall saving is £11 different. Must be rounding. Feel silly now)
I've had a bash myself and to be honest I'm impresed with how much information they managed to get from the 4 bits I gave them - the cynical may think the 'made them up' with the intent of maximising the apparant savings.
biut I'm sure a company of UW's integrigty wouldn't stoop that low...0 -
£1316 potential savings for me
It's a nonsense, of course. But, spookily, the projected cashback figure of £452 is the same as my projected figure.
Shopping and petrol
Our unique CashBack card gives you 5% CashBack when you use it at Sainsbury’s petrol stations and stores, as well as at a range of other leading retailers. The saving shown is based on you receiving 5% CashBack on food, drink and personal transport (fuel) costs, and uses expenditure figures in those categories, and relevant household profiles, from Family Spending, Office for National Statistics, 2008 edition.Call me Carmine....
