Were it a genuine "guarantee", then there would be a way to make a claim against it should it fail.

Over on the uw reps forum there is discussion as it has failed a rep who cannot get a customer to sign up with him as the UW gas is more expensive than the prospect's gas from BG.

The uw rep is miffed about htis and contacts HO to get the worthless guarantee invoked.

HO reply to him with a cop out, now saying the guarantee has to be explained as only being effective over a 12 month period (even though its wording says UW is always cheaper than BG!).

The disgruntled rep published the HO reply for all to see:

The brochure states that 'To ensure our prices remain competeive, we comapte them every month against BG, your regional electricity supplier and the average of teh cheapest direct debit tariff. And if necessary, we wil adjust them in line with out TVG'

    OK?

How is the TVG guarantee useless when the sale brochure states quite categorically that prices are on a like for like basis? It also states that the above circumstances are excluded.

ALL of my customers are saving money. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers have personal account management. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers are happy. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers receive a call from me, on a regular basis, to make sure that they're happy with the service. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers have internet access to check, if they want to, the other providers and their rates etc.. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers know that if I can't save them money, I wil tell them so. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers were hacked off with the dis service provided by other providers. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers have been happy to refer UW for their fairness, value for money and customer service, provided by myself and head office. More facts.

All that proves is that you have the most naive bunch of customers it is possible to envisage.

Every single one of your customers could, without exception, get their gas and electricity cheaper from every one of the Big 6 companies.

But it's the amount showing at the bottom of the bill that really counts. And there will be some UW customers (and I would imagine this number is growing greatly every day) who couldn't pay less for their gas and leccy anywhere else, even with online tariffs with ridiculous exit fees etc., wholly unacceptable 6 monthly billing etc. No other energy supplier gives you the opportunity to reduce your bill without reducing your consumption. And that's a fact.

    Prove it.
ALL of my customers, both domestic and business, are happy with the price and the personal service they get from me. If they weren't hapy they'd go elsewhere. You probably won't like this but the personal and honest service they get from me, far outweighs the carp they get from the Big 6. It's no contest, whether you like it or not.:D

    Again from UW brochure -
"To ensure our prices remain competetive, we compare them every month against British Gas, your regional electricity supplier and the average of the cheapest direct debit tariff available from the Big 6 suppliers, on a like-for-like basis. And if necessary, we will adjust them regularly in line with our unique "Triple Value" guarantee.

    Sorry Maz, I'm now confused.
I thought you had said that UW would beat a Big 6 DD tariff, and you mention like for like, so I assume that means you will beat the price 'at the bottom of the bill' - ie including all discounts.
If I don't like DD (or have a bank account), does the guarentee still apply?
If UW prices are higher (with or without discounts etc, but 'like-for-like') than the host company, what could I do under the guarentee?

Because arteta1878 asked quentin for comments, so why not respond:

Because Quentin did not respond to the post, he merely responded to the first line and, surprisingly, ignored the rest of the post. These are not comments, it is just the usual diatribe.
Just a quick message about the TVG, as I have noticed a lot of people saying it is worthless.

arteta1878 went on to describe how the customer was happy with the solution provided. Why didn't Quentin respond to the rest of the post - is it because he failed to read it or just chose to ignore it? Either way the comments provided by Quentin are superceded by the customer being happy.

I remember a quote that sums this up for me....
People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.

The triple value guarantee is worthless, the fact that a customer is happy with a worthless guarantee does not change that fact. How can anyone of sound mind and body be happy paying more for gas and electricity?

Come on reps! Just admit that you supply expensive energy, and if you use the cash card heavily you can bring your bills down to a more reasonable level? Using selective tariffs to compare what you charge may impress a 'friend' who is helping you train, and may inadvertently sign up as a favour. Its doesn't impress folk who actually take the time to compare true prices.

Of course they came out with exactly the same line before the introduction of the cashcard - see earlier in this thread.

He asked for comments on the TVG(this was the subject of the post)

    quentin replied
Its small print makes sure that no-one can see it as a guarantee of anything:

    1) It excludes all dual fuel discounts or dual fuel tariffs

    2) It excludes all on line tariffs

    3) It excludes anyone not paying by direct debit

    4) It excludes the uw monthly "club" membership fee

Your prospect should have used a comparison site to see how much he could have saved.

eg See this post where there were 56 cheaper tariffs than uw:

Your definition of a diatribe is at odds with mine: Those are just facts
