It's entirely possible to get the very cheapest deal on the market with UW whether you have 1, 2, 3 or more products. Agreed the biggest savings probably kick in when you have gas, leccy, phone and bb due to the 24/7 inclusive calls plus the dissipation of the effect of the £1.73/mth club fee. But if you shop at Sainsburys (the cheap supermarket of choice with true money savers, it seems ;)) then, if you are a true money saver, it's a bit of a no-brainer.

Meaning anyone that hasnt signed up has no brain?

I wouldn't touch UW with a very long bargepole, and would advise anyone else likewise not to either.

Cheers & Best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me.

Just a quick message about the TVG, as I have noticed a lot of people saying it is worthless.

I went to see a potential customer the other day, he was a British Gas customer for his gas, and he was an EON customer for electricity.

The TVG states that it will beat BG prices (up to a certain usage) and will also beat the local electricity provider for the area, which low and behold was EON for this area.

After checking his tariffs, it was all true. This being the case, how is this worthless? This customer is saving money on his gas and electricity, even with the monthly UW club fee on top.

He was not the sort of guy who spends his life on forums trying to look for best deals, or trying to damage other companies with his underlying bitterness, so was genuinely pleased to be saving a bit of cash.

    Any thoughts Quentin?

p.s. I am a part time UW distributor as previously stated

Seems like UW is trying to recruit new salesmen from the various mortgage / IFA networks

Personally I see nothing wrong with an adviser discussing utilities - even help arranging , but from one provider??

It is worthless as a guarantee.

The uw director demonstrates how to use it as a "sales tool", and even admits that uw will never be the cheapest here:

    http://www.networkerplus.co.uk/videos/triple-value-guarantee-wayne-coupland.html

Its small print makes sure that no-one can see it as a guarantee of anything:

    1) It excludes all dual fuel discounts or dual fuel tariffs

    2) It excludes all on line tariffs

    3) It excludes anyone not paying by direct debit

    4) It excludes the uw monthly "club" membership fee

Your prospect should have used a comparison site to see how much he could have saved.

eg See this post where there were 56 cheaper tariffs than uw:

Obviously that is correct and the TVG is worse than useless.

I don't know what tariff was picked so they only came 57th in the list of tariffs, in my area they are never that high up the list!!!!

Now quentin has given his thoughts, why not specifcally comment on those.

Why should arteta1878 respond to Quentin - the poster was demonstrating that he had a happy customer that saved money on his utilities. Does this make arteta1878 the child of Satan, or somebody that has brought happiness to a fellow human being?

How is the TVG guarantee useless when the sale brochure states quite categorically that prices are on a like for like basis? It also states that the above circumstances are excluded.

ALL of my customers are saving money. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers have personal account management. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers are happy. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers receive a call from me, on a regular basis, to make sure that they're happy with the service. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers have internet access to check, if they want to, the other providers and their rates etc.. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers know that if I can't save them money, I wil tell them so. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers were hacked off with the dis service provided by other providers. That's a fact.
ALL of my customers have been happy to refer UW for their fairness, value for money and customer service, provided by myself and head office. More facts.
ALL of my customers have told me that the customer service that we provide is paramount. Fact.
Some of my customers who have used the cashback card are VERY happy, thanks very much.

Throw in value for money, a 'certain' consumer guides 'best buy' for all of these things, the FT's 'Company of the Year' award and yeah, I think we'll do pretty well despite a small minority of malicious people who are so screwed in their thinking, that they think something this good couldn't possibly exist.

Well, it does, get over it.:D

Were it a genuine "guarantee", then there would be a way to make a claim against it should it fail.

Over on the uw reps forum there is discussion as it has failed a rep who cannot get a customer to sign up with him as the UW gas is more expensive than the prospect's gas from BG.

The uw rep is miffed about htis and contacts HO to get the worthless guarantee invoked.

HO reply to him with a cop out, now saying the guarantee has to be explained as only being effective over a 12 month period (even though its wording says UW is always cheaper than BG!).

The disgruntled rep published the HO reply for all to see:
    Thanks for your email.

The Triple Value Guarantee (TVG) still applies.

However, it only applies when compared with a like for like direct debit tariff and does not allow for any duel fuel discounts, non standard or internet tariffs.

If compared with a like for like tariff the Guarantee applies over a period of a year. It is possible at any given point within that year that the companies covered by the TVG may be cheaper. We monitor our prices against their prices to ensure that over the course of a year the customer would pay less with us than with those companies.

I hope this clarifies how the TVG operates and should be interpreted or explained.

Because arteta1878 asked quentin for comments, so why not respond:
