Whats the broadband service like with utility warehouse ?
The £19.99 package with line rental looks good and i can get the llu option (talk talk ??).Would like to know from others on broadband what the speeds are like any slowdown at peak times etc ?

They seem to use Opal Telecom (which is wholly owned by carphonewarehouse/talktalk). This poster was getting 6.53mb at close to 10PM (and provided very welcome documentary evidence to back it up ;)). The test was conducted on a weekend as well.

Don't forget that there will be a £1.73 monthly club fee to add to the £19.99. This is the same flat rate charge no matter how many services you take. Personally, on my propsed deal I will be taking the 4 services (gas, electric, phone and BB) and then qualify for the inclusive 24/7 calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845/0870 and 10 international destinations) but will be also be taking the cashback card to make the whole package absolutely unbeatable (we regularly shop at Sainsburys).

I am upset at the underhanded way that your friends has abused his membership of a networking site in order to attack the Utility Warehouse and its distributors. And it is he that accuses people here of deceit.

    I haven't deceived anyone.

You forget that this thread came into being because uw reps constantly come here and attempt to deceive with misleading and false claims.

We now know the whole business is built this way.

We have seen you are taught how to deceive your friends into giving you interview practice, when really the game is to sign them up.

You encourage your colleagues to use the worthless "authorised survey" as a means of moving into a sales pitch.

We have seen from both the training videos and the actual sales presentations that uw just misleads (and lies to) prospects.

On the downright manipulative deceptive side we have learnt you are encouraged to pretend to be lost and ask directions to give you an opportunity to hand over a card and offer to save the stranger money as a way of "thanks".

We have seen that you personally advocate the cynical car parking method whereby you put a personalised false message onto the cars either side of you!

Provided you remain calm and not make vitrioic attacks on people here then I am happy to continue with this dialogue. As such I will not answer any comment that your friend posts here.

You have been shown your truly vitriolic attacks here in post #2861.

As far as now ignoring me, that is no problem.

But you now seem to be saying this is due to me being "vitriotic"???

However, you seem to have forgotten all about telling us that a colleague of yours (presumably with a better insight into the self inflicted damage you do to the uw with your posts here*) had made you "give your word" you wouldn't get involved here??

I have no intention of getting into a protacted debate with you or anyone else. I gave my word about that to another colleague and intend to keep my word

    * Your latest own goal concerns your contradiction of your colleague Mike by the Sea's attempt to distance all the videos from uw by claiming they weren't approved. We saw through that straight away (eg why are uw directors involved in them, why do they have uw logos on them etc), but you came and confirmed that he was again attempting to mislead us!

Well are these UW videos not relevant? Shouldn't Money Savers be aware of the methods taught to UW salesmen, so they can see through the 'tricks' used.

If UW are not ashamed of these videos, what is the harm in prospective customers seeing them?
They are not relevant to pricing.

I am quite happy for potential customers to know what methods are used to try and persuade them to buy. That way they will hopefully be able to ignore "the hype" and concentrate on what they want. Methods for persuading people are developing all the time. That is the way of the world. Companies are in business to make a profit by trying to get people to want what they are offering. Not I say "want" as there is a lot of stuff sold that nobody actually needs. I buy my utilities from Utility Warehouse because I want what they offer. The method I use to obtain my utilities cheaper than from any other supplier suits me. It will not suit many others because they are not prepared to accept the conditions that I am. That is fine by me. What I find disappointing is that Quentin, yourself and a one or two others can not accept that this company provides services that you do not want but others are happy with. We are all different. That is what makes being on this planet interesting and fun.

The "harm" is that videos were specifically made for one particular group of people, and, other people in sales, who for the sake of argument may not have been aware of them, may copy those methods and therefore gain a financial advantage not paid for.

    Hi Nigewick

I wonder when Quentin will eventually apologise. I no longer read his posts so if he does I'll probably miss it. Perhaps taking legal action may be the only way. Attacking someone (like my wife) who he has never spoken with and my wife is not even aware of is one thing, but accusing (libelling?) someone on this forum the way Quentin has towards you is quite another.

I wish you well in whatever you decide to do.

I didn't attack your wife at all. If we are stupidly talking libel there is one for definite!

Maybe posting them on youtube wasn't the brightest of ideas then, if you don't want your deceitful methods copied by others!

    Dear Cardew

Just for your information. I have answered your posts. I have completely ignored those of your friend. I am happy to converse with you as you are reasonable in your dialogue even if we happen to disagree vehemently. Provided you remain calm and not make vitrioic attacks on people here then I am happy to continue with this dialogue. As such I will not answer any comment that your friend posts here.

One day, hopefully you will take it upon yourself to educate yourself to the validity, efficay and ethical nature of network & referral marketing. Stating that you dislike the modus operandi of UW shows in reality that you have no clear understanding what network marketing is or more importantly does. I felt the same way once but I made it my duty to find out and educatre myself.

Contrary to what you might believe, Quentin and I can hardly be described as 'friends'. We have never exchanged a PM and the only 'contact' we have had was when he reported me to the mods!!

Whilst I would concede he is perhaps even more dogmatic than myself(which takes some doing!) in his defence, most of vitriolic attacks have been instigated by his opponents.

You totally miss the point about 'network' marketing.

It is perfectly possible to have 'ethical' network marketing, but IMO the methods employed, and sanctioned, by UW do not meet my definition of that term.

I base that opinion on the input to this and other forums, the constant spamming and of course the videos.(does it matter how Quentin obtained them?)

Personally I have never heard of a product that is sold by 'Network marketing' that is good value and UW are certainly no exception! With 26,000 UW distributors all out to make a buck, that is not surprising.

The bottom line is that UW gas and Electricity is just about the most expensive available on the UK market. That is simply a fact.

Their telecoms package for some users is competitive - no more - and without going over old ground, IMO my package from the much derided BT is better value for the majority of customers.

Those people who can take advantage of the cashcard and are willing to accept its drawbacks, can without question make considerable savings.*

    * Last time I posted that statement, it was quoted out of context by a UW rep who conveniently missed out the part about very high UW prices for gas and electricity.

    P.S.
Have you bothered to watch Big Al's presentation again? If you don't find it disturbing - then nothing I can say will 'change your mind!' - or would 'manipulate your mind' be more appropriate?

 Any chance of you posting your speed test this evening, Cardew? Like the UW rep did timed at 9.44pm on a saturday evening. I'm curious how you don't seem to suffer from the simply dreadful throttling that occurs with BT at evenings and weekends (as well as pay considerably less for the package than most people ;)). Here's the site espresso requested be used. TIA.
