Firstly, I am a UW customer and distributor but I am not commenting on UWDC. I have read this thread for sometime and it is only now I feel that some comment is required. NigeWick is right. It is totally clear what Quentin was saying and that he knew what he was saying would hurt. Quentin, you must apologise. As has been said before by 1Carminestocky "Being able to accept that you are wrong on occasions is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength and confidence".

I second that. No matter how po-faced it gets on here at times (I think we all secretly enjoy the banter and it would appear from the thread views that even the people who maybe don't post on here also can't resist reading it, lol) I think there's a line we shouldn't cross. And that line was crossed by Quentin. In the heat of the moment. He got carried away. Happens to everybody at some point. It's how you deal with the aftermath that defines your true character. Time to apologise, I feel.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
*Slightly* back on topic..
Why does Utility warehouse have such a small range of phones available on their mobile contracts? As I've got a less than squeaky clean credit history I was actually interested by UW as a way of getting a phone on contract, its just that there arent really any phones there I want.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Not sure if you are aware, but utility warehouse is owned by npower but is run seperate.0

Hi Plushchris
UW have never had an extensive range of phones, as they are not in the same business as the big providers. They update the range on a regular basis and look to offer what I would suggest is the "middle of the road" offering. The business basis is fundamentally the sim and tariff options and the phones are there as an additional option if required. The monthly pricing of them reflects the "cost" of the phone over a fixed period. They, in effect, don't offer a free phone with a specific tariff and then offer phone updates on a regular basis.
For people looking for the latest phone or specific makes / models, the option is to buy a phone and just go for the sim / tariff from UW.
I hope that helps.

Can I also just add that doing what mike suggests will also put you on the lowest line rental immediately instead of waiting for any contract period to end. For those not in the know there is a gradual reduction in line rental over the period of the contract term.
Hope that helps

ps still not posting much but glad to see people prefer to talk properly than simply slagging off other people or the UW

The forum is a sick joke. And will not be a part of it.
Except it seems when you spot an opportunity to get some free advertising. Then you are happy to be a part here!
It would be seen as more helpful if you had also pointed out that although (obviously) you get a cheaper tariff if you don't take a "free" handset, you still have to become a uw club member, and pay the monthly membership fee on top of the sim charges.0 -
Dear Quentin
Thank you Quentin - I'm flattered that you find any post of mine worth responding to. But no thanks.
It was actually becoming quite a pleasant forum again with people asking genuine questions until you poked your vitriolic nose in again.
How very convenient for me to make a relevant post that it somehow gives you the chance to avoid apologising for your recent outrageous attack on another UW poster.
When are you going to apologise to him? You may think everyone has forgotten about it but they haven't. I wonder if your 'friend' is a bit fed up with you now.
Other than this one, I haven't any intention of answering any post you make now - it's a totally pointless exercise and would suggest others to do likewise.
Miss Moppett privately invited me back onto this forum. While I will occasionally do so it will be only to answer specific points raised. I have no intention of getting into a protacted debate with you or anyone else. I gave my word about that to another colleague and intend to keep my word. So do your worst Quentin. It makes no difference to me. It will not dent my belief in what the Utility Warehouse can offer me or the people I meet. As I said to Journeyman it is up to him to make his mind up. If UW isn't for him that's OK. If it is for him then welcome to a business that is likely to still be here when my youngest is old enough to join me in my business if he wishes to.

That's a little rich.
Carmine accused me of fraud on a public forum, in this thread and didn't apologise. So come on UW folk, dont try and climb the moral high ground and throw stones.....0
