Nice to see some others taking up the cudgels!
It seems to me there are 2 issues on this thread - UW pricing and their Modus operandi
PRICE
IMO by far and away the most important, and indisputable, fact that needs to be got across on a Money Saving forum is that gas and electricity from UW is very expensive.
For the average UK consumer using 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity in my area, paying by Direct Debit, UW are 17.3% more expensive than the cheapest tariff and in 54th position.
Should you wish to pay quarterly, UW are 20.1% more expensive.
You can try any area, and any level of consumption, and you will find UW are massively more expensive.
Now, despite claims to the contrary, UW have been charging consistently high prices for a long while; although it is fair to say that some years ago when the firm started out they were far more competitive.
So instead of all the gnashing of teeth by UW representatives, why can we not have a rational discussion purely on UW pricing?
UW MODUS OPERANDI
I can’t think that any UW rep with any scruples at all would not be acutely embarrassed by the revelations by Quentin of the recommended sales techniques.
Big Al’s presentation and the reception he received, together with those posts earlier in this thread from someone who attended a conference, are reminiscent of those ghastly evangelical meetings held by religious cults on the other side of the Atlantic
How anyone can use a totally discredited Triple Value Guarantee to sell expensive gas and electricity to trusting friends and family is something some of us really have difficulty in understanding.
However rather than concentrating on views and opinions, can we please simply have an objective discussion on UW’s gas and electricity prices? After all surely that, on a Money Saving Website, is the important issue.0 -
Hi have to say that I'm with Miss Moppet on this one. As I posted a couple of pages back - I would be very unhappy if I were on the board of UW and read what the distributors were posting in this thread.
I am dancing teacher by profession.
...
Steve
I don't know about anyone else; however I have visions of Wayne Sleep now. Keggs, do you store your UW distributor cards down the front of your lycra shorts?0 -
I get angry with people like Quentin and other people who are quite prepared to attack someone or something from a basis of either a personal agenda (as in the case of Quentin) or from somepone who clearly has made up his or her mind based on what someone has said to them.
I have not joined this disciussion again and no longer will. I am out so please do not bring me into your discussions again.
You cannot expect to be given free range to criticise and name posters, then request your posts are not to be discussed!
After all your many contributions here promoting the uw, you now tell us you are not a uw rep!
Yet on the website you are unhappy being seen at, you are there motivating other unhappy uw reps (from who's eyes the scales have fallen) to persevere as you have, and not to bother about losing customers, keep telling the customer about the worthless guarantee, and encourage your colleagues to follow your trick and try to always park between two cars so that you can sneak your card under their windscreen wipers!0 -
always park between two cars so that you can sneak your card under their windscreen wipers!
Reread my post again. You do provoke but this is a lie so had to put to bed.0 -

Please tell me what outrage you say I have said above, and I will explain further for you
Steve
Whilst Miss Moppet seems well capable of holding her own, do you not feel that this post of yours has an element of 'outrage'.Miss Moppet
How dare you tell me I am an abusive Distributor for Utility Warehouse.
I suggest you look at your own posts on this forum
Given that Miss Moppet had posted just thre times on this forum, could you possibly be confusing her with someone else?
Given you have newly joined UW, and aiming for the mini, do you have any comments of the issue of UW gas and electricity pricing outlined in my post above.
Specifically do you agree that UW charge a great deal more than the cheapest available tariffs?0 -
always park between two cars so that you can sneak your card under their windscreen wipers!
You do provoke but this is a lie so had to put to bed.
This is not a lie!
You proudly posted that you park next to two cars and stick your card under the wipers with a personal message thanking the drivers for not parking too close and ask them to "pto" where they find your uw business card. Sounding sneaky? And unnecesarily deceitful - it's you who are parking up, not them!
You post back to wrongly accuse me of lying, but no comment on whether or not you are in fact a uw rep, (involved in motivating disheartened colleagues, accusing a disenchanted colleague for "not believing enough", and broadcasting that uw has allowed you to "build a future for myself and family").0 -
re read my post again. I did not say I put anything under wipers. This is a lie!0
-
My actual quote:
I don't put them under winscreen wipers. Most cars have a gap in the wing mirror housing. The card fits snuggly into the groove. Doing this has another advantage - they see it immediately as they open the car door.
Now I am really out of here.0 -
You force me to quote your post:Whenever I park in a car park I make sure I park between 2 cars. When I get back I leave a card which is blank on one side and has info on the other. On the blank side I write "Thanks for not parking too close. Steve. pto".
As you can see there is no mention of where you stick the cards!
No comment on the unnecessary deceit?0 -
Agreed this is my post but you failed to continue with the quotes from the conversation I was having. If you choose to misuse information I have NOT given permission for you to use - the networker site is a private site where you have to join. It is open to all so you have joined - why? Tell Miss Moppet (BUT THAT DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO USE IT FOR YOUR OWN PURPOSES) - then do people here the courtesy of posting all their comments in full not your twisted out of context and deliberate misinterpretations.
Example
Your quote - compare this and compare my actual quote
and encourage your colleagues to follow your trick and try to always park between two cars so that you can sneak your card under their windscreen wipers!
Now I'm done with this. Try as you might Quentin you've been caught out. Like everything else you twist and slant. Give it a rest.0
