The problem for uw reps is once they have exhausted their friends and relatives, they have to try other means.
The UW business model is quite clear. It depends entirely on recruiting more and more distributors, who in turn sell to their friends and family. That's why UW have a 'trickle down' residual sales model whereby a distributor earns more from the sales of other distributors they have recruited. They have to have that incentive to keep their massive sales base growing, thus sustaining their customer base, based of course in selling it to their friends and family.
An interesting business model. Not quite sure if its sustainable in the long term.0 -
I really am happy for you to use an abacus or a calculator.
If you simply post the additional price for all the extras we will add them up for you.
e.g.
Wireless = £5
call minder = £2
caller display = £2
Additional phone = £2
200 texts = ???
350 wi-fi minutes = ???
Comprehensive McAfee security package = ???
5gb digital vault = ???
Would you agree £45 would be about correct?
From memory I think we established that UW will charge you approx £150 extra for your gas and electricity - but as you so rightly point out it might cost you a £30 penalty to leave some of the cheap tariffs.
It's amazing how you can break down the various component costs of a phone/BB service you've never used/received a bill for but stay noticeably schtum when asked to break down the cost of the various components costs of a service the account of which you can access online within seconds of reading this post. Don't you think? I notice it would now appear to be a '4-pronged' attack to try and deflect from this issue. I can just imagine the personal messaging going on. The 4** Internet Musketeers.
Broadband option 2 £20.54
Phone Line Rental £11.25
Anytime Calls Package £4.95
** This figure would be made up of 3 + 3 on your calculator...Call me Carmine....

I've been waiting for this moment to put YOU on ignore! Done! I promise you that you will never darken my virtual door again.!
Seems like you will make an excellent UW distributor, your promises are as worthless as UW's TVG.0 -

The great gary has learned that.
Did you see his visit to the gullible spanish teachers "lovely place"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdZcBC0Kf9k
At the end of signing up the teachers, gary arranges to return the next day to collect his dvd which they are going to watch that night.
Fortunately the camera caught his return visit, where the gullibles readily agree to fork out £200 to become business proprietors, (so they can afford to get a plane to Spain), and spend 3 hours listing all their friends ready to get them to join up:

I'm a bit worried about these videos.
The uw insists that the video was done live, yet when they meet up the following day, not one of them appears to have changed their underpants, or shirt, and the single coffee mug is still on the table in exactly the same spot!
But then I must be wrong, the uw would never lie to their reps would they? This particular customer sign-up was recorded live, warts 'n' all and took less than 15 minutes. Take note of Gary's polite, yet assertive approach and the fact that there is very little detail in his presentation0 -

It is sustainable if all the xx thousand customers continue to pay inflated prices of £hundreds more than other suppliers charge for their gas and electricity.
Don't forget that as distributors lose interest, the commission for the customers they recruited falls - but the customers are still paying inflated prices(Nigewick is the expert on this I believe)
The main threat to UW is when the agreement with NPower finishes.
It surely is inevitable that, in time, UW will be sold to one of the Big 6. Of course the directors of UW will ensure that the 26,000 distributors will be well looked after, although err thinking about it they are 'independent' and don't actually work for UW.
Still the company has the very highest of principles as can be seen by the wonderful videos posted by quentin, so will do 'right thing'.0 -
Mark,
Is that referring to my BT package? If so the free evening and weekend calls are on my second telephone line. I get unlimited calls on my main line.
Oh well, I hadn't waded back far enough to see the full post I see. Even if that wasn't the case we'd still have an epic thread about the case of the missing sixpence.
I should probably spend more time on the internet and stop wasting time in the real world.Reading this signature is a waste of time0 -

Crikey, looks who's trawling through someone else's post now.Shall I dig out your 'French & Saunders advertising UW on TV most nights' one? :rotfl: It probably wouldn't be worth searching for, you clearly have a distinct lack of the embarrassment gene (not to mention a distinct lack of the integrity gene. Oh, and the credibility gene etc). I bet you wish I hadn't taken you off ignore, it seems like you've been peddling the BT package deal nonsense unopposed for ages. We've managed to get it up to £31.73 so far after your recent 'confession'. Approx £5 still to go, though. Have you got the guts?

I have told you what I pay, I could of course add that I get my gas and electricity many hundreds of pounds cheaper than UW prices.
However why not give an answer to the following; or is it too painful? - you can get your mates to help you if you wish.If you simply post the additional price for all the extras we will add them up for you.

This is what I can't get my head around. Me and you aren't exactly the best of virtual friends, are we? I'm sure you would dearly love to rub my nose in the brown stuff. I'm giving you a HUGE opportunity here. All it takes is for you to look at your online bill and tell me how the £31.73 figure you claim you pay is broken down. How much for line rental, how much for BB option 2 and how much for the anytime calls package? Surely you would be chomping at the bit to do this if the result would be my embarrassment? Very out of character behaviour indeed.Call me Carmine....

It seems I'm a bit of a naive BT customer, as I'm pretty sure I'm paying the listed BT prices... so as espresso suggests I'll be off to take advantage of the fact that I'm also a Virgin Media customer.
I get to do some real MSing this weekend!:T
