  • I'm assuming Quentin has never had a visit from one of the Big 6s door knockers, lol?

The advantage with the UW reps from the customer's point of view as far as I can see it is they are, I would imagine, immediately and personally accountable to their customers, i.e. they probably live very close by. Oh for the same situation with a company like npower, for instance, where you can go and knock on the local rep's door and demand they check your bills to see how much has been 'over-sculpted' from you, lol. Wouldn't THAT be great??

    1) Can we all agree that it is possible to save money if you take out the full services? If not can anyone compare what was posted before about services someone had (was it Carmine?) and find it cheaper?

    2) Can any distributer/defender explain the exacts of this guarantee and how it can be claimed against? Is it actualy anything more than meaningless words to sound good?

    3) Is UW ever actually a better choice than any of the other big 3 if all you want is gas and electric?

    1) I do and therefore others can too, if they are prepared to use the pre payment card to best effect.

    2) I think the company had an "ideal" when they first published it. However, it seems "out of touch" to me at this time.

    3) I showed that this is possible using my own usage, including paying all relevant fees.

To get the price advantage, one must accept the pre payment card and get value from it for Utility Warehouse to be THE cheapest. For people who do not want to switch every few months and want decent service, the company has also had good press over a number of years now in some newspapers and that independent organisation.

It all comes down to personal choice in the end. I have a way to save money that I am happy with. Others will prefer different methods.

I am a Independent Distributor for Utility Warehouse and any views expressed are mine and not necessarily the company's.

As already posted, they claim it gets cheaper the more services you have.

It's just not true. You don't get any discounts by taking more services. If you take ther (expensive) phone rental, then they give you "free" calls over different time periods of the week, depending on how many you take, that's all.

Nigewick says he has managed to save overall, but that is because he uses their card, and this reduces his bills.

Why go to the trouble of buying expensive utilities, then using up your cashcard discount to get them back into line.

The uw reps keep misleading us by saying their card is unique in the way it gives you discount. Getting discount with a cashcard isn't unique to the uw - though having to give that discount to them is!

It's common sense: Get your utilities as cheap as you can elsewhere, then you can have a proper cashcard if you want and get the benefit of their discount schemes off your actual shopping.
  • Let's have some figures then, Quentin. Not to mention links. I've provided mine surely it's time for you to put up or shut up? You haven't even had the courtesy to tell us who you are with, even, let alone your figures...

When repeated like the rogue reps do to their relatives
Please name the rogue reps that you refer to in order that something can be done about the situation.

I guess now having nearly 400 highly trained and experienced customer support staff based in this country makes a difference. It means 90% of calls get answered within 15 seconds. Rang this morning and was answered in about 7 seconds. The question was dealt with within 2 minutes. Not bad service really.

You ask a straight question, but the uw rep gives you a convoluted answer:

NigeWick you constantly tell us your "savings" are only managed by offsetting the expensive utilities by also taking and using the uw card to get the bill reduced.

As we have seen, your company make no attempt to beat the big 3, and are happy to have energy tariffs aimed at being in the bottom half of the standard tariff range (excluding any dual fuel discounts from the competition, and excluding the club membership fee which has to be paid on top).

What a successful day UW have had, 280,000 customers. Makes all the remarks against them seem pointless in retrospect. 66,000 new services and only cost £2.5millions over the quarter to acquire together with the cost for the 280,000 existing customers. That's extremely efficient. Wonder how much it would cost in advertising costs in order for other companies to acquire 66,000. The money going back the the average person in the street as well rather than to the big advertising companies, another bonus.
