The card is automatically topped up every month with the ammount you request upfront.

Like one poster has stated can everyone cut the wise remarks and not let this thread end up being closed.

    Customer and distributor with UW.

So someone with Carmines projected spend would have to have £750 automatically put on there at the start of each month ready to be spent?

Not being funny but having that ammount of money being put onto a card that earns no interest and has very little protection would scare the hell out of me.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

    Rest easy, PC :D

How do I top up my card?

Topping up is easy. Choose from:

    * 'Instant Top Up.' Call our automated telephone service, or go online, for an instant top up.
    * 'Auto Top Up.' means you've always got money on your card. We check your balance every night and automatically top your card up by your chosen amount if it has dropped below your chosen minimum level.
    * 'Monthly Top Up.' Top up a fixed amount each month by debit card or standing order.

You can choose any of the above, or mix and match: whatever's most convenient for you. You can even top up using your credit card if you want to, but we do not recommend this method as you will incur additional charges.

No link, obviously. Unless Quentin would like to oblige? :p

Edit: I'm assuming the instant top up by phone covers the getting to shop and realising there's no credit on the card scenario?

I'm genuinely not sure, Chris. I have no problem with the monthly top up but would rather see just how much I will be spending each month before deciding on a figure. The instant top up is a nice idea as I'm assuming it allows you to take advantage of 'snap' bargains in store, like the recent Medion Netbook/MSI Wind re-badge for a simply amazing £172 ish. In such a scenario I would have no qualms about paying an extra 35p to top the card up instantly and get the £8.60 credit on the UW bill - plus a netbook at almost half price. Sainsburys do seem to have these sort of one-off mega deals.

The instant top up, that an 0800 number?

If its an 0870 number and you have to phone it from a mobile while in-store to top up that would eat into the £8.60 credit pretty quick!

I've absolutely no idea but you're nitpicking again, Chris. :D I'm not planning on having to do such things, of course.

PS In that scenario I would have obviously read about it on here and rang the 0870 number (if it IS an 0870 number) for free from my UW phone line. Touche...

    Me? Nitpick? Never! :D

Just pointing out that that £8.60 does sound good off your bills but not so good if there is £2 on you phone bill to pay for it!

Oh and by the way, I posted in the Sun £15 holidays thread earlier in case you werent keeping track of my posting habits ;) :rotfl:

  • I don't tend to have to venture away from this thread if I want to keep tabs on your posts, PC. As Mr Mourinho might say, you seem to have parked your bus in here. :p And I'm sure you will be right at home on the Sun £15 holidays. Have a great time. :D
